Max F's WITB

Recommended Posts

So... I just updated my signature to add the WITB info like most others have.  I've been frequenting MGS for over a year but just got around to doing it.  Plus, during that time there were so many changes that it didn't seem worth it until things got settled down.

I think I am all set  (for now).  But you know how that goes...

This post is a test to see if it worked.

The newest items are the driver and the hybrid.

After buying a Callaway RAZR Fit last summer I won the SLDR in a drawing this winter.  Kind of bittersweet since I just ponied up for brand new (at the time) Callaway.  These were the pre-Optiforce days before the driver floodgates opened.  Remember that time?

Anyway, when I won the SLDR I did my best not to like it but the numbers just don't lie.  Better spin rate, launch angle, dispersion, and the fact that my misses were just to the left (as opposed to both sides with the Callaway) meant that I just had to bag it. I've only hit it indoors on a FlightScope so I can't wait until spring arrives, but I'm really getting some confidence with it.  I've read that many don't care for the stock shaft but for me it seems to work well.  What I'm really eager to see is how much roll it delivers with the reduced spin.

The hybrid replaces my Adams Super Hybrid 19*.  I had mixed results with that one.  Great off the tee but seemed to have a draw bias and hard for me to get the high trajectory and soft landing that one expects from a hybrid.  Also, I never really cared for the Kuro Kage shaft.

With the new Adams I still get the speed slot and titanium face (distance and ball speed comparable to the Super Hybrid) but it has that old school Adams hybrid sound/feel like i had with the Pro Gold model and with a great trajectory and smooth unloading  sensation (I'm sure due to the Matrix shaft).  It's so easy to hit and control.  I can draw or fade it at will, unlike with the Kuro Kage which never seemed to want to fade or get up in the air very well.

One last thing - the Mizuno Aerolite SPR stand bag is the best bag I've carried.  Great quality and functionality, really light and comfortable (I prefer to walk if the course will let me), good rain hood.  It's last year's model and you can still find them about half the cost of the new bags.  Check it out if you're looking for a new bag.

Hope my rambling weren't too boring.  Now to see if the signature worked...

OK, anyone, how do I get line breaks in my signature so that it doesn't all run together (please)?  I thought I put a line break in between each kind of club (using the return key) but that didn't seem too work.

Little help?

Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, Whiskey.  That did it.  I'll try to add some pics once i figure out how.  My stuff is all off the rack (no custom paint or anything) but I think the putter has pretty cool milling and finish and some folks may not have seen one in person.

Thanks.  Go into your SLDR fitting with an open mind.  I tried to not like it but the club was too good.  However, I have a irritating doubt that i still didn't get enough loft.   It's hard to tell on an indoor fitting.  Being from MN you know how that goes; unless you want to buy all your clubs in the summer you have to compromise sometimes.

Thank you.   It took a long time until I got settled.  How do you like your scratch wedges?  I need to keep something in mind for when my Mizunos wear out.

I just played my first real round with them after putting the Spinners in. Absolutely loved the feel, yes even more than the Vokeys. The head size/shape fits my eye and I felt more feedback with them.

Thanks for the feedback.  I will have to give the Scratch guys a call when it's time.  I just picked up a 54* Wilson FG Tour wedge on a lark.  Once the snow melts I will post some comments.  I really like the grind and the face milling but the head is a lot bigger and heavier than my Mizunos so I don't know if it will blend into my current setup or if I will need to get another Wilson to go with it.
