Tour Edge Announces CB Proh Hybrid Iron Set

Looks like Tour Edge has a new iron on the way (the press release I found in my inbox was a dead giveaway).

While the CB PROh looks to be one of those not traditional, probably-isn't-for-everybody type of releases, Tour Edge is doing some interesting things with this latest offering.

Seeing (and reading) about these, I'm reminded a bit of Mizuno's MP-H4 Irons. You've got big, hollow faced long irons (2-7) coupled with what Tour Edge is calling a Cavity Blade in the 8-PW. Generally these type of designs are intended to give a more blade-like appearance coupled with the forgiveness that traditionally comes from a cavity design.

Also of note, the CB Proh features have forged faces, with vibration dampening plagues (inserts) for consistent feel.

Starting price for a set outfitted with TT XL 90 shafts is $599.99 (a relative bargain into today's times). Add another $100 for KBS Tour, Project X, or Fujikura Fuel Graphite.

Long irons are available individually and can be used as a driving iron.

A Perfect Blend of Power, Forgiveness, Control and Feel

Bringing to Market the CB PROh Hybrid Iron Set

Batavia, IL (April 2, 2014) – Advanced engineering allowed Exotics to develop a hybrid iron set that combines two distinctive iron designs that deliver tour-caliber distance and consistency. The new CB PROh hybrid iron set delivers a seamless blending of hollow hybrid long, and cavity blade scoring irons for unprecedented playability.

.

CB PROh long and mid irons (2-7) brings performance technology to the forefront, combining the proven distance and forgiveness of a hybrid with the shot control and workability of long iron. Featuring a full-hollow design combined with a very thin forged face creates an extremely high C.O.R. and a soft, responsive feel at impact. Additionally, the hollow design greatly expands the sweet spot while still allowing players to shape shots superior to traditional cavity-back irons.

CB PROh scoring irons (8-PW) incorporate a cavity blade design for precision and trajectory control. The shallow, traditional design scoring irons are made from soft 431 stainless steel. A multi-material vibration dampening iron plaque is positioned for consistent feel and ball control on approach shots.

The long irons are also available individually; CB PROh hybrid long irons are true long iron replacements designed for tour-caliber performance.

The Exotics CB PROh irons feature Tour Edge's lifetime warranty and 30-day play guarantee. It is available in True Temper X-Lite 90 Steel, KBS Tour steel, Project X Flighted steel shafts and Fujikura Fuel Exotics or Fuel Tour Exotics graphite shafts starting at $599.99. Individual long irons may be purchased starting at $99.99. For more information, call (800) 515-3343 or visit www.touredge.com.

H is for hmmmm.

Initially I thought the Proh title was a typo.

What do you think the target HCP is for this set?

I sort of feel like they should have gone with the 7i in the solid config. More scoring than distance for most, right?

These are quite impressive. We have the samples at the shop in the fitting cart, and all of the fellas REALLY like these...  Easy to hit, and they don't look bad at all at address.

Maybe Haggin has them...

Looks like the next step will be to get Powerbilt to inject Nitrogen into the hollow bodies....i.e. Air Force One irons.

I've never seen any stores that carry their irons. But then again Tour Edge isn't the first name that comes to mind when I think new iron set.

This is one of the biggest hurdles that this type of club is going to have. Nobody is coming into the shop asking to hit the new CB PROh irons from Tour Edge. No Matter how good they are. If people give them an honest try, TE will sell lots and lots of these.

Remind me (slightly) of a couple designs. Cleveland 588-TT/MT have the forged face, hollow body thing going on.

Nickent also had some blades, I think they were called "ARC" that had hollow centers with some sort of rubber inside the "internal cavity" many moons ago. Precept had some like that as well.

Buying TEE is like driving a new car off the lot, however. Lots of instant depreciation if you're a 'ho. They priced them right to address this at least!

I'm thinking my tour edge ho'ing could be discounted. CNC forged TEE irons for $150 is pretty tempting.
