GolfSpy Barbajo
Filming is getting underway for Hack To Jack. We had our preliminary skills assessment today - putting, chipping, driving and trying to hit shots certain distances on a highly inaccurate launch monitor (so it was pretty much guesswork…) Here's one of the early prelim episodes - showcasing some of the fun events to keep us from jumping off a bridge during the loooonnnggg Minnesota winter: Teams will be made over the next week or so. They're also promoting an "at-home" version of the event -- where non-contestants can join the program for something like $260 and take part in lessons, get a fitness and nutrition plan, etc... Heck, we even have special contestant Facebook Pages. Click HERE and give mine a "Like" The program's new website should be launched this week -- and hopefully I'll have more details on the actual details of the 12-week program beyond the weekly group lessons, exercise & nutrition program and the on-course activities. You can follow the prelim stuff on the Hack To Jack YouTube channel here. GolfSpy Barbajo
Another Hack To Jack Update--- First tournament is in the books - Robert Bazal and I finished tied for 10th. Robert hits the ball a loooonnnggg way. I was hitting the SLDR a long way, too, but in every direction. Coming up this week will be fitness assessments, as well as chiropractic work and nutritional counseling. We'll have a tracking system in place for strength, weight loss, etc. The following week we'll be starting our 12 week programs with our teaching pros - once a week lessons with our "team." The program organizer is putting together an "at-home" version - anyone can join the 12 week program and be part of a team for something like $275, and it includes the weekly lessons, fitness program, gym membership, etc. It sure seems like all the foreplay is over, and it's time to get down to bidness! GolfSpy Barbajo
The Initial Skills Assessment videos have been posted on YouTube. Here's my putting test…5 putts each from 3, 6, 10 and 20 feet at the MN Golf Academy's crazy greens. Only nailed 6 out of 20, but there weren't any potential 3-putts in the bunch (I know, positive spin…) We also had a chipping test…. As you can see, we have some work to do, but at least the pants look bitchin... GolfSpy Barbajo
Hack To Jack update: The "official" program begins this week. They unveiled the format/bennies for the finalists and semi-finalists last night. Semi- finalists will be placed into 4 person teams, finalists into 2 10-person teams All finalists and semi-finalists will take part in weekly group lessons for the next 3 months (total of 12) Everyone receives a chiropractic assessment. Finalists get 12 treatments, semis receive 6 Personalized fitness assessment and workout program 3 month membership to local Fitness 19 gyms Dr. customized nutritional program Finalists receive 10 free entries into Hack To Jack tournaments (semis get 5 - burned!!!) 3 month membership to the Minnesota Golf Academy USGA handicap 7 greens fees to area courses, just for fun We have a points program for the 12-week show - we get points for working out, practicing, playing, staying on the diet and promoting the program on social media. There's no ultimate "winner," but there will be prizes and such along the way. They're also doing an "at home" program, where golfers can "buy" into the program, getting all of the benefits for $289 - still a bargain! We get started in earnest Monday - with lessons, points-gathering, etc. They have a weekend trip planned to Cragun's Legacy resort in Brainerd, MN for May 2-4, but if I want to stay married I'll probably have to stay home They're also using the LiveStrong "MyPlate" program as part of the fitness portion. I set a goal of losing 2 lbs per week over the 12 weeks. MyPlate is a calorie and exercise tracker - it put on a 1300 calorie a day regime - so there goes the cake and ice cream! . The programs will be on the Hack To Jack Youtube channel -- I'll post 'em here as they come up.
