Tour Striker Releases Free, Social Golf App

Hey guys, just a quick heads-up that the admittedly heavily populated world of golf scoring apps has increased by one. Martin Chuck, the creator of the Tour Striker line of training products has just released Tour Striker Golf.

Like most apps of this particular ilk it keeps track of your rounds, has a stats engine, and a social component as well. While it remains to be seen what it they'll actually look like the app has personal achievements ready for the unlocking (similar to Nike's NG360), and will apparently offer exclusive Tour-Striker sponsored competitions.

It should be reasonably obvious to most that the free app is a tool to promote Martin's training products, as well as his teaching videos. Of course, Martin's products are really good, and his videos are some of the best around, so there are certainly worse things.

The Tour Striker Golf App lacks GPS functionality (also like NG360), but in playing around with it, I've found there's absolute beauty in the simplicity of it. It's entirely graphics driven, so Instead of having to scroll through a couple of different screens, to enter your score for a given whole, everything is centralized, and better still, picture-based.

Hit the ball OB? Click on the white stakes icon.

Sand? Sand icon.

Hit the fairway...yup, button for that (not that I'll need it much).

It's definitely not the most feature-rich, power-packed golf app out there, but for those looking for something easy, intuitive, and functional, it's most certainly worth a look. I'm going to give it a go the next few times out and see how it goes. The price is certainly attractive-enough.

Here's the Full Press Release

  • 2 weeks later...

I use easy scorecard pro.

I paid the money for it after using the free version for a year.

It's not as good looking as this app, but it has all the features I need and allows me to easily back it up to google drive or dropbox.

I have moved phones 3 times since I started using the app and moving data from one phone to another is a breeze.
