Justin Rose (sort of) calls penalty on himself

Did I understand this right? 

 

Justin Rose double-hits a chip shot mid-round....and says nothing until officials ask him about it in the tent.  Then he says that yes, it was a double-hit.

 

Sorry....but the mentality of "I-thought-I-could-get-away-with-it-until-you-called-me-on-it" is not very high on the honesty scale.

Interesting, they should've let him sign the scorecard then say something since he tried to get away with something there.

He thought the ball might have moved when he addressed it on a chip shot at the players, and when he and his playing partner watched the replay on the big scoreboard, they concluded that it did not move.  But after the round, with slomo HD cameras zoomed in, the rules officials said the ball did move, and they gave him a two stroke penalty, but the next day, they called back the penalty because of the new rule that says that if something is only able to be seen by a slomo HD camera, then they will not count it.

Sounds pretty fishy. Was it someone here who said bubba was really bad about improving his lie too?

 

It's really surprising that pros who know the cameras are on them 100% of the time would try to get away with something like that.
