mbrodeur86
Guys, I'm officially in the market for a putter. I'm not a brand hound by any means so I am open to all brands. My Problem: I've been through many putters from Scotty Cameron (detour), odyssey dart, nike method 001 just to name a few. I always believed that the bigger the site line, the better chance I had to have the right alignment. My main putter the last few seasons has been a YES! Bella-12 in white. I get good distance control but my problem is the sight line is distracting me to a point where I miss simple 5 foot putts due to that freakin' site line and second guessing my putts and of course my game is suffering because of it. I like to go with my read and my gut and it's gotten so much into my head now.......I just can't line up to it without seeing it and second guessing..... So now I'm looking at getting a putter without a site line. There are a few I know ( I did like the method putter but had bought it at 33" and my Yes! putter is a 34") Anyways, my ideal putter would be a blade putter without site lines (Site dot ok) around 345-350 grams (the Yes is 341g I believe) with a milled face (no insert). Obviously I cannot afford a $200 putter so I would need to find something used with those options. At 1 point, I was going to get a Nike method mc01w but it has a site line....it's just bothering me that much that I really want no site lines. What putters can any of you recommend? hckymeyer
A few more questions to help narrow it down. You mentioned no $200 putters, but what type of range are looking to stay in? Any issues with new vs used? What type of neck (flow, plumbers, long etc...) Do you want toe hang? Are you open to a site line that you could either remove the paintfill from or paint to match the color of the putter? i.e. black head putter and you could paint fill black. RookieBlue7
There are several models of the Cleveland Classic that for your requirement to a tee. The good news is they're around $75 new and they're all milled. About as good a value in a used putter as you'll find and they're everywhere from stores to eBay. The Never Compromise Dinero and Gambler (and several other lines) can be had under $100 as well and they make fine putters as well. Dinero and Gambler series being all milled. Mizuno Bettinardi putters are also a fine choice for all milled putters and there are several options there as well. There are also Hogan Bettinardis that can be had cheap as well, again, fine putters. Odysseys can be found in pretty much any price range under $200. Ping has so many classic designs out there that can be had cheap that are good putters as well. To me, the BeNi and IsoPur pixel lines are their best. That should give you a good start. Ping Scottsdale Answer remake Ping Answer Dalehead Scotty Newport (most likely over $200 though) There will be a bunch of others that I can't think of right now, but you should be able to find an older Ping without alignment aids pretty inexpensive. My current putter has a flare neck. I'm not too partial to that as I tried the Yes Callie and it has a plumber's neck and that was comfortable also. I can't afford $200 for a putter but I mean there are some that were $200 new that go for a lot less now on ebay. I was close to buying a Taylormade tp monaco by Kia Ma but it slipped through my fingers. I think that even if I painted the site line, the cut in the putter would distract me. There are a few in the golf shops near my place here in Melbourne and from memory they feel similar to how the milled scotty options do. The Odyssey is a lighter (340g vs 350g for the Rife) and it has a very small sight line that from reviews is not distracting. It has a milled insert too which from the reviews is really nice instead of those urethane or polymer inserts (don't like those at all). My current putter (Yes Bella-12) weighs 341g and I get good distance control so I'm leaning towards the Odyssey at the moment. hckymeyer
I had a black series #9 for a while and it was a great putter, I just ended up getting a Piretti so I got rid of it. Andy W
40% of your golf shots during an average round of golf are taken with the putter. As such, it makes sense that the putter should be the best and most expensive club in your bag, right? There is only one place to get the only putter in the world that allows expert greenreading, has incredible feel and is technically supported for free and its called the P&SI-EGOS. Take a look. mbrodeur86
Very beautiful putters guys. No question. Money is a huge problem for me. I've actually bit the bullet and bought an Odyssey Black series #1 putter. A little different than what I was looking for but I've read some good reviews and apparently the very small sight line is not distracting.
