The golf Channel had an interview with the equipment editor of Golf Digest today and he said that Berhard Langer is using 15 year old clubs.....Ben Hogan Apex for his long irons. His is using Hogan Apex Forged (4-5 iron), which are 15 years old.

How old are your clubs?

What is the longest that you played the same clubs?

According to Golf Digest, the average player will not fatigue their irons as they do not hit as many balls as the Pros.

My answer is a short one.  I'll use my current clubs forever or until I find something that works better.

I used my old irons (Ping Eye 2's) from 1990 to 2013.   I've only used 3 putters my whole life.   Burchart & Nichols Stroke Control, Odyssey 2-Ball, Ping Ketsch.

Drivers -- now that's a different story.

No you're doing it right just don't let your wife see this thread.

I had my Eye 2's for 15 years or so and I would still use them now and again until I finally broke down and sold them earlier this year. I got them in 1986 and took them out of the bag in 2003. I basically had Nicklaus irons in my bag for 10 years after that with some time off when the original set was stolen.

Ive gone through as many irons as Rookie or T trying to replace them. Should have taken lessons first and saved some money....

Drivers, putters and wedges are a different matter although I've had my current putter since 08 and don't really see a need to change. I have enough good putting rounds to know that it's not the putter when I don't.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I beg your pardon...  I hit way more balls in 18 holes than the Pros!

BTW, I didn't outgrow my Ping Eye 2's, I got too old!  What a great club.  I quit playing them because of the steel shaft and higher lofts; got tired of hitting 2 more clubs into the green than my buddies.  So now have Ping i20's with graphite for the last 2 years.  Lots of drivers, but only 3 putters.

I've still got the same set of irons, wedges, fairway wood, and putter from the last time I upgraded my clubs as I began to slow down growing. The only thing I have changed since has been my driver which I was able to get from a friend who upgraded.

Been using my Taylormade LT2's for about 10 years now which is pretty good considering I'm only 24 lol. Although I am looking at upgrading everything at the moment as they don't fit me very well anymore and believe I would do better after I change.

I've had 3 different sets of irons in the 3 seasons I've played. First set were Nike VR_S which were SGI irons. I switched from those to the MB2s cause I didn't like how the soles got caught it the rough all the time. From the MB2s I went to the Tmag TP MCs cause the MB2s didn't fit my new swing after my year of lessons and now I'm fighting the urge to get a set of the new Vapor pros(a battle I will probably lose)

3 irons sets since I started playing which is about 10 years now.

The first were a starter set and lasted until probably 2009. I switched over that year to Nickent 3DX's and went through about 2 different shafts.

The last set has been in my bag for 4 months now. I don't plan on switching them out unless something extraordinary comes along.

Been playing PING i20s for about 2 1/2 years. I typically play a set of irons for +/- 3 years before I can no longer suppress the urge for new stuff. Ditto the driver, maybe slightly less. Can't see me changing out my STX xForm3 putter any time soon, though.

2014: Cobra Bio Cells----back to steel shafts after 13 years of graphite shafts.

I'm impressed!  Why did you go back?

I have always preferred the feel of steel, but gained distance with graphite, and the new graphite shafts seem almost as easy to control.  Don't think I am going back.

I shattered my left wrist in 1998 and felt that graphite would dampen the shock from the irons hitting the ground.  Finally, after 13 years, I decide to try steel again and found that my wrist was strong enough to handle the shock.  I also saw that the steel shafts were much more accurate that the graphite.

Since I've picked up my starter set: replaced the irons twice, driver twice (once due to airline mishap), dumped a 5 wood and changed out the 3 wood, got a hybrid In that same time I've changed putters twice in the last 8 years. Wedges I change out every few years, but usually the same model. Perhaps along this line of thought: putter might be the club I keep the longest, as it took me almost 8 years and a bent shaft for me to finally change it out.

Most people could buy a set of clubs and use them for their entire life without wearing them out.

My clubs are fairly new: driver is about 5 years old, 3-wood is 2 years old, 5-wood is a year old, irons are 2 years old, my gap wedge is 10 years old, sand wedge is 2 years old, lob wedge is 3 years old and putter is about 7 years old.

I went through a lot of clubs my first few years of playing golf, but over the last couple of years have given almost all of them away to friends, First Tee & Boys and Girls clubs..

Now that I've got a couple of sets that I honestly know fit me, I may change shafts and adjust loft/lie at times in the future, or replace a club that breaks, but my goal is to keep no more than 2 sets of irons, 2-3 drivers and putters and 5-6 wedges around.

It's fun to try new stuff, but the only thing about my equipment that doesn't always "work right" is the guy swinging them, and I'm the only one that can fix that.

odyssey putter. I forget the exact one, but it's an old one that held well until I kept bending the shaft over missing 3 footers.

I still have my Ping ISI-Becu here as my back ups that I bought in 1999. Still look great and when I'm no longer able to play cavity backs they will be back in play. They have TFR 5.5 in them and I will have to change the shafts as they are to stout for me now but other than that, they are waiting to come back into play.
