Ever have a day where you just can't win?

Got up this morning and found water on my kitchen floor. New fridge less than a year old has a leak in the ice maker.

Went to grab some hot dog buns for my lunch before heading to the course, kids had finished them off yesterday so I had to make due with regular bread.

Fourth hole today I hit my 3 month old Ping i25 driver for the third time during the round and much to my surprise I heard a crackling sound at impact and the club become super light on the follow through.

I then hear metal on hard surface and turn to find my baby bouncing through the grass along side the tee box after bouncing off of the cart path.

Three wood off the box the rest of the day and being super careful not take any chances driving home.

First time I've ever broke a shaft. Hoping PING comes through on Monday as I have a very expensive two piece driver now with a huge dent in the side.

hope your day gets better, I know the worst day I had in awhile that involved golf was when I took my clubs out of the airplane and found the driver had been broken.

That's what's great about adjustable drivers now. Always pull the head off and stash it in the cover in a safe spot. The shaft stays safe without the head on it.

Damn that sucks mate. But hey, atleast they were all inconveniances and you didnt end up getting hurt, because from personnel experience it sucks.

Only time I've ever broken a shaft was when I had to use some old clubs given out on a school trip to the driving range while in highschool. Went to crush the last ball I had left and snapped the head off the old blade 3 iron I was using. When swinging something at that speed with a bit of heft in the head then all of a sudden it weighing next to nothing tends to do some damage. After spending some time getting ultrasounds and seeing the physio I learnt that I did solt tissue damage in my shoulder and tore a tendon shealth in my wrist. that was the catalyst that had me spend time away from the game for close to 4 years

Your best bet is to take it where you bought it, and have a letter written about what happened. Ping will have to inspect the damage and make a decision regarding the "repair".  In a situation like this one, where the clubhead was damaged by extenuating circumstances, it can be quite hard to say what the end result will be. A lot could depend on the relationship that your store has with Ping....

Good Luck.

I bought it from a place 11 hours away from here.

I took it to the local PING authorized dealer per the PING CS's request. I have bought clubs from them in the past, but not this particular one.

They called PING and they said the same thing they told me. Send it in and we'll take a look.

I feel like I'm a reasonable person most of the time. I feel like this should be repaired 100% as the club is 3 months old. Obviously there was a flaw with the shaft as I don't have a high swing speed and a failure like this is something I've never experienced before in my 25 years of playing the game. The club head hitting the path was another stroke of bad luck, but it wouldn't have happened if the shaft hadn't failed.

It's unfortunate because it's not my fault and I supposed I can't really blame PING either. They didn't make the shaft or the swing in this case.

I guess they could accuse me of abusing the club or doing something to cause this and there is really no way I would disprove it, but if that ends up happening I will be very disappointed and probably rethink buying a club from them again.

I have had a good repair experience recently where they exceeded my expectations, I can only hope that it will happen again.

I am not going to worry about it until they call and give me the verdict.

Hopefully they will come through again and remind me of the reason why I don't mind paying full price for their products.

I know how you feel fats......Three years ago I was playing with a new set of Powerbilt AFO irons with graphite shafts.  After a couple months of playing I was waiting to tee off at a Par 3 when my shaft broke at the hosel.  Long story short. Powerbilt replaced all the irons at no cost to me. I love it when a mfg holds true and supports the customer.

Powerbilt replaced all the irons? That is above and beyond service if I've ever seen it.

I am pleased to announce that PING once again has come through with flying colors.

They listened to my story and I sent in the driver and they replaced the head and the shaft.

I feel bad sometimes paying retail price for their equipment, but this just reinforces why I do it.
