Jmikecpa Posted October 8, 2014 Share Posted October 8, 2014 I need to share this since it has not been formally announced at the office yet and well I am busting at the seams to let it out. I work for a large casino developer/operator that has properties worldwide and pretty much left my entire life almost four years ago to come to NYC and build and operate the company's first foray into the US. Having built the property in NYC and worked on the developments that we have in other countries I was slated to move onto our next development in Vegas at some point this year. Well that all changed yesterday. We had some reshuffling of our executive team in NY and my boss got promoted which at best I figured my next move would be from the director level to the VP level doing a bit more. Had a call last night with our corporate office overseas and it was announced that I will become the new CFO of our NY property effective immediately. The interesting part was that nobody had actually told me before the call so my reaction was a quite interesting. So far the only people that know are my wife and those above me that were on the call last night.....and again needed to just tell someone until it is official. For me getting to that level was always a goal of mine before I hit 40 and it feels great to have done that at 37.....okay just shy of 38 but who is counting. WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. Best part of the entire situation is that after being a good career move it gives my family a lot of stability and allows us to stay on Long Island which my family has come to love. The thought of having to tell my children that we would be moving next year and having to uproot the family again was not something that I was looking forward to. Now just a few months later I got some more good news today as I was promoted to the CFO at the corporate level. My role now essentially will be to oversee the financial operations at all of our properties as well as on a global level. I really had no knowledge that this was going to take place nor did I think at my age this was really a possibility. It is something that I was not sure at this stage of my career I would be in line for, but it was nice to hear that my former boss, current boss and two of our VP's that were involved with the reorganization all stood up and said I was the guy. The move takes my career leaps and bounds further than I ever could have dreamed it would be at my age and more importantly validates yet again the decision that we made as a family to move to NY. Also, if anyone is in the Miami, LV or SE Mass area and wants to play some golf let me know since I will be traveling to these areas every month for the foreseeable future.
