Nikon Coolshot 20

This tiny laser has arrived for testing. Low price and very simple specs. All lasers I've tried have been 100% accurate. Hitting the pin - that's the problem. Looking forward to see how the 20 performs.

Which is why I stick with gps.  Id like to get a laser, but everyone I have tried shakes too much.

I've had that issue as well, usually on and early morning round after a late night   I've found resting the thumb of whatever hand you hold it with against your cheek helps to steady the unit.

I only have the Norwegian price. In GBP it's 160-170. Maybe it'll cost £149?

I've seen so many golfers trying to use their laser with arms stretched out to the side while trying to hold it steady. Compact posture = relaxed and steady. Resting thumb against the cheek is a great idea

Ya know, I was more of a gps guy too -- until I got this Bushnell hybrid that has GPS and laser in the same unit.   Then I found myself making too many mistakes if I relied on the GPS and didn't scope the flag.   Mainly when knucklehead grounds crew puts the wrong colored flag in the wrong pin position and I can't tell from the fairway.   I also ran into my first course where the GPS map wasn't updated since loading into their system.   A new nine was created two years ago using parts of the old nine and 7 new holes.  Threw me all outta whack.    So now I laser more, especially when I get in Scor range.

I might put a laser on my Christmas list.  The main reason I have stuck with the gps is that I never considered myself good enough to be able to hit exact distances. I always worried that if the pin is up front or way back that I would come up short or go off the back.  As long as I knew what it was to the front and back, I could pull a club and get on the green.  Most greens where I usually play are not that big anyway.  However, when I travel, I see much bigger greens and it stresses my putting, especially when the greens have a lot of undulations.  Now that I have the SCORs in the bag, I feel much more confident that I can hit specific yardages, so maybe it's time.

 

I have had a Golf Buddy for several years and have been happy with it.  I actually trust the yardages more so than the markers on some courses.  When I travel, I always update the database for the states I plan on visiting to ensure that I have the latest.  So far, no issues.

Too early to draw any conclusions, but I'm impressed so far. The 8 second scan is extremely helpful for those who have trouble holding a laser steady.

 

It's very quick too. All these devices are now. We're talking milliseconds. No difference between Z6 and C20.
