In only its second month on the market, the PING G30 driver achieved the #1 sales position for units and dollars in the on- and off-course retail channels combined for the month of September in the United States and the United Kingdom, according to Golf Datatech LLC, which tracks golf equipment sell-thru data for both regions.

The driver, which features an industry-first innovation called Turbulator Technology on the club's crown, was introduced to golfers on July 31. Since its launch, demand for the driver has reached unprecedented levels for the company throughout the world as golfers realize increased clubhead and ball speeds, leading to more distance. The G30 driver also features the highest MOI of any PING driver ever designed to ensure golfers the accuracy and consistency to hit more fairways.

“The response to the G30 driver has been phenomenal,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Our engineering team has created a club that is impacting the driver business unlike anything we've seen. Golfers all over the world are hitting the ball farther than ever with the G30 driver, thanks to Turbulator Technology.”

Tour acceptance has also been swift, with the majority of PING's staff converting to the new G30 driver immediately. Angel Cabrera won The Greenbrier Classic the first week the driver was on the PGA Tour. Bubba Watson also put the G30 driver in his bag that same week. He finished the PGA Tour season No. 1 in driving distance with an average of 314.3 yards, including launching the longest drive of the season – 424 yards – at  the Bridgestone Invitational. He increased his clubhead speed by 2 mph and ball speed by 4 mph – leading to a 10-yard distance gain during testing.

Billy Horschel's switch to the new driver gained him 12 yards off the tee and played a big role in helping him win the FedExCup. After putting the G30 driver in his bag, he won twice, finished second and earned more than $13.4 million.

“All golfers are benefitting from the technology of the G30 driver,” Solheim said. “The tour results speak for themselves, but we're hearing every day from golfers of all skill levels who are commenting on how the driver has changed their games. They love the turbulators.”

Never going to happen...  Not because of any performance issues, but because of sheer numbers and PING's player policies.

Great company, and I am not surprised that this club is the #1 driver at all.

I think this speaks to Ping's willingness to stick to its strategy and forge ahead - we always know what the expect from them - incremental releases, something in the players, something in the game improvement, an upgrade, consistency in branding.

I'm glad to see all of that rewarded.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

One of my normal playing partners demoed one for a weekend and we hit it a lot. It feels great, but unfortunately with the stock shaft the spin for me was still very high like on the G25 so my i25 with the shaft I was fitted for was still noticeably longer.

I wish the adjustable sleeve would have been the same as the i25 so I could have tried my shaft in the G30.

A fine driver, I liked it, but ultimately not enough to cause me to drop my current choice.   But it is better than all the other 2014 releases I tried, so I can see why it is currently the best seller.   I don't think that any of the Callaway late season releases will knock it down.  We'll see if the 915 can do it..

While I think the G30 is a great driver, I feel a part of the reason it is tops in sales is that it was the only new release for those two months and the other companies had not released info on their newest releases at that time. It was perfect timing for them, still a bit of time left in the northern part of the country so golfers would still look at putting a new driver in play. November is a bit too late for new releases to capture a majority of northern golfers' attention.
