I feel your pain, but from a different direction.

Amazing weather here in NorCal, but my gallbladder decided I can't play until sometime in December.

I just keep the drapes closed :(

The weather here is weird as crap right now. All weekend it was cold as heck for us. Today of course I had to work but it was sunny and 70 and the wind howling. Now it is raining and the temp is supposed to drop to 29 tonight after it quits raining and not get over 40 tomorrow

Sunny the last couple of days here; warmed up to 27 yesterday.  We walked nine holes.  It was my wife's last round this year; knee surgery on Wednesday.

I'll probably keep playing all winter. Don't get much snow, if any; just cold.

With the windchill this morning it feels like -18. The best part: a kid going to school was wearing shorts but he had a touque on and gloves

When we went to Cali in January, it was 6* here in Indiana.  Out in Cali it was mid-high 60s and everybody was wearing pants and parkas.  I was in short sleeves and they all looked at me like I was crazy.

Some kids wear shorts to school all year long here even this last week when we had record low temperatures. It's been 12-15 degrees every night since Nov 11.

Our cold spell snapped and we're back at it in Utah!   +4 today with 6 bogies, a double, and 4 birds.  Drives iffy, Scors great.  Wilson Duos in full use at just around freezing.   Some shots:

Hazards have largely frozen over

So close, but I couldn't reach them.   Ice is too thin still.

Sensing that my season was winding down due to weather, I played just about every day I could this last week, including today.    I got to see a bunch of temperature shifts as I did so.    It was in the 30's on the 19th and today, but it went all the way up into the 60's on friday, with temps in the 40's and 50's in between.   Most interesting was how the Wilson Duo (50 compression) FG Tour (70 Compression) and ProV1's behaved in relation to each other as the temperature shifted.   60 and above, the ProV1 was longest off the driver, the FG Tour was just a shade shorter,  But off of the irons above 60, the FG tour was a shade longer, to the extent that it evened out.   Above 60 the Duo is appreciably shorter than both other balls off of both woods and irons for me.   It also felt a bit too squishy on long putts and short shots.

But as the temperature drops, the Duo starts to pass its competition.   The ProV gets hard and short first, and before you get to 40 it's already unpleasant and clicky to hit.   Below 40 the Duo takes a significant lead over the FG tour off of both woods and irons.   The FG is still playable at lower temps, it's just not as efficient.    In cold golf the Duo is actually still pleasant and it will compress and spin.   I've repaired dozens of ballmarks on greens that were only a few feet from where these yellow Duo's ended up, so I've had no complaints at all about them.   I played them today to a 1 over round in which I hit tons of greens, two par 5's in two, but sank no putts.   Scors were wonderful again.

It warmed up here on Wed from 22 to 32, but with it we got freezing rain and lots of wrecks on Thu. My wife had knee replaced Wed so going to the hospital on Thu was dicey. However, on Fri it started warming up and today it was 60. Supposed to be that temp all week, but I will be staying home cooking and making sure my wife does her exercises. Maybe next weekend I will get out for nine if the weather holds.

Happy Thanksgiving to all MGS'ers!

I commented on my last day there that I should have brought my clubs with me and was asked how I could possibly play in this weather.  My response....generally in shorts and short sleeves.

Of course! I have already played in 22* weather this year. Follow markb's advice and play the Wilson Duo or my favorite, the Bridgestone Lady Precept. If it's a gray day, the yellow works best.

Both are in my winter arsenal.  As a promo at the casino we did logo balls that were Wilson Duos and I have ten dozen of them in my golf room ready to go.
