Nike unviels the Rory inspired Lunar Control 3

The Fall season is upon us and when the temperature drops and the wind becomes a little less friendly to your face (wind chill, yo), that just means your golf game is going to be more grit and grind than letting the ball rip.  You're going to need a shoe that allows you to be a little lower to the ground and give you better control of your swing on impact. In other words, you need the same things that the world's top golfer Rory McIlroy needs.  See?  You're just like Rory.  Except for the major titles and the bazillion dollar endorsements, but still…

Nike Golf unveiled the McIlroy-inspired Lunar Control 3 today.  After wearing the Lunar Controls for much of his first few years with Nike, the Lunar Control 3 features a few new design elements such as an extra spike in the medial forefoot on the outsole, a greater emphasis on traction and a wider base. Other highlights includes lighter and softer Lunarlon cushioning, an updated Flywire design and a microfiber synthetic upper for water resistance.  Again, you're probably going to try this for the first time in cold weather so that's kind of a big deal.

The Lunar Control 3 also features a much more sleeker look when compared to previous models. At first glace, you might even mistake these for a pair of Lunar TR1s or the latest LunarGlides. And to continue with the trend that began with the newly introduced Nike Vapor Irons and Woods, we'll be seeing Volt quite a bit.  Still waiting for Nike Golf to drop those awesome Volt Vapor hats Rory and Tiger Woods were wearing though…

McIlroy along with other Nike Golf athletes will debut the Lunar Control 3 at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.  The White/Volt colorway of the Lunar Control 3 will be available online for a limited 4-day window starting on November 28 for $170 a pair.  A wider launch begins on January 1st with the Black/Pure Platinum, Pure Platinum/Bright Crimson, White/Pure Platinum and White/Volt colorways while the White/Lyon Blue drops on March 1st.
