My Thanksgiving present to MGS'ers

Here's a little tip that saved me a bundle last year and I intend to use it again this year.

 

Absolutely NO ONE is shopping for ebay golf auctions that end on Thanksgiving afternoon.    Go look for auctions that end at this time and you'll have the field to yourselves.   You don't actually have to follow the auctions while eating your turkey, just bid on them early or use an auction sniper on the ones that you calculate will end at the key time.  

 

My best buying coups of the whole golf bargain hunting year were made between 2 and 5 of Thanksgiving day.    No competition at all, I basically paid my low first bid on everything I wanted.  The guys who posted auctions that timed to end on Thanksgiving haven't thought ahead to time them properly, but once they post them and get a bid it's too late.

yep that's a great call (well not in Europe - but the principle is the same for other events).

 

Major sports events often work well I've found.

 

Also keep my eye out for auctions finishing in the morning, they frequently end cheaper than those that finish on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening.

Yep.   Always sell on weekends, never buy on weekends.

 

Also, I recommend not selling anything till after Christmas.   In general, men will not spend on themselves till AFTER the Christmas obligatory shopping is done.   Then in January, when they realize the wife and kids HAVE NOT bought them what they really want, they'll go out and get it for themselves.

So true. Was in the shop at the weekend, one of the members bought a new waterproof suit - I complemented the purchase, he smiled and said he was going to give it to his daughter to wrap up and give him for Christmas - think his daughter is 6 so guessing she won't be paying!

Great!!! Now I have another reason for my wife to get p!ssed off at me besides the fact that I will be drinking heavily and watching the Eagles game.  Last time I got banged up and used eBay I bought a Hammer driver.

Oh man - hit my auctions up!  Siren Z-TX irons, Mizuno MP-59 irons, Cally X2Hot Pro driver....everything must go!  These deals make Crazy Eddie look completely sane...

Okay, I found you.   I'd take those Mizzy's down before you get a bid if I were you and relist them tomorrow on a 5 day to end on Sunday.   They are too good to let somebody just steal them for the minimum bid.   Your starting prices are low and would normally generate some good action, most of it at the last minute.   But watch and see, all of that last minute action that you normally count on just doesn't happen on Thanksgiving.
