FIRST LOOK - The Cubert Putter

It's not everyday you here people talking "Smash Factor" when their putting for birdie.  Now, "distance control" is something more people are beginning to talk about when speaking of the flatstick.  Especially after the PING Ketsch ran away with the "2014 MGS Putter of the Year".

You see...those TR grooves...are all about distance control. The average golfer doesn't strike the center of a putter 100% of the time.  Hell...neither do the best pros in the world.  And when you don't you typically lose distance and accuracy with almost all putters in the market.

Does the PING Ketsch solve this problem?   Pretty damn well.  Will the Cubert?  Not sure.  One thing I will say though, even if it does, it will not rank as high in the looks category for the golfing population.  And we have proven looks DO NOT matter when it comes to performance, but they do when it comes to sales.

What are your thoughts about smash factor and putting?  Distance control on the greens?  What is your first impression of the Cubert putters?

I'm with Bones. My putting has been abysmal this year and I would try anything. I like goofy. Alwayd loved the Nike Method Concept design, for example. This doesn't seem too extreme. I would try it. Solid custom options, which is a good move in this market.

Ok I am going to be one to defer on this. I am going to use my dad's quote on when he saw the first Ping putters "That is one ugly POS and it will never sell" but many years later he was extremely wrong and maybe I will be too. Heck I guess it is ok if one could putt with it but for me it has no eye appeal and that is my first criteria. Hey but what do I know because I am still stuck partially in the 70s and 80s :)

OOPS am I being too harsh again?? Sorry
