Exciting day!

Well it is for me anyway.

 

Bought my son (soon to be 4 - on New Years eve) his first golf clubs; in truth I think he's a bit young but I couldn't wait any longer.

 

A little 3 wood, 7 iron and putter in a tiny little bag. Now, just got to keep them hidden til his birthday....

Got my daughter clubs for her 4th birthday.........it is a very exciting time.  They were a little big for her, but I think she'll be able to play with them next summer.

Love it - very happy for both of you gentlemen.  My son was 4 when he started.  I was a Seminary student and Fort Wayne Indiana is one of most kid friendly places you could ever find.  I was able to bring him with to a local course and they wouldn't charge me.  We would play 9 - I'd have him tee off from the 100 and play it out or stop after 8 - once we got to where he could post a score we moved to the 150 and then the 200, then the ladies tees and finally the men's tees.  His first time from the men's tees was Father's Day right after his 11th birthday - He made a hole in one on his 3rd hole.

 

I envy the fun that you guys will have with your children.

Very nice westy! It's special to watch your kids grow with the game. If you can, take videos... They will enjoy it later in life.

 

At our summer kids clinic we have a couple of 4-5 year olds that participate in several clinics in a row throughout the summer. Some kids do pretty well, others not so much; we had one boy that was ADHD. Attention span is pretty short, so only let them do as much as they want to.

Very nice gift and great that you are going to teach him a game that will last a lifetime.  My son is 8 and got his first set of clubs for his first Christmas at 8 months old.  He started hitting balls when he could stand and now we try and play or hit balls at least once a week during the summer.  My girls are six and three and both of them have clubs and we hit the range weekly and they use my putting green down in the basement daily.  I had a simple (albeit selfish reason) for teaching them as young as i did and it was that with my work schedule and travel it is the one time a week that I can spend a few hours with each of them one on one having some quality time.

 

Not the best result for this ball with the driver, but finally had him perfect at the top.

I got my son a set of clubs two years ago and sadly have not been out with him much. I'm going to remedy that next year and hopefully he'll become my Sunday partner when my current partner (70) hangs up his clubs.

Very good teach them young. I was fortunate my dad ran a course and started me off about 5 years old or so with a cut down 5  MacGregor 5 iron (would you expect any other brand). But I do have a photo of me and my dad in the backyard somewhere and I was in diapers and my mom has it labeled first golf lesson but I don't remember that. I do remember him starting me off with that 5 iron on our par 3 course
