Kor.A.Door
Why is there only one guy on the committee that is from the next generation?, I don't think a committee is necessary, the Ryder cup is a team game, and those ore the matches where we struggle as a team, we get destroyed by alternate shot every Ryder cup lately, I don't know how to fix it, but a committee is not the answer. I saw this and loved the comment. As a person who has to deal with committees all the time I can tell you that they won't solve a thing. It's an easy fit - stop playing the same golf course all the time and start playing a different course each week. What do I mean? Get rid of the uniform course set up that is the PGA tour and start to play the conditions as you face them, regionally - if that means brown out or thicker than usual rough or not perfectly groomed sand or always the fastest of greens - so be it. That in and of itself will get players far more accustomed to the rub of the green situations that are the Ryder Cup. Granted we get to set the course up every other event but in the end the Euro's are much better prepared to handle our conditions than we theirs - so we are at a decided disadvantage on their courses and they are comfortable on ours. Plus they have good players - the results we are seeing - advantage Europe most of the time by a nose - are exactly the results we would expect given that scenario. Kenny B
Except that we can't win anymore on our turf, set up the way we want it. Instead of playing a tournament, then flying home, and everyone playing the tournaments they want, they Ryder Cuppers should travel together, eat together, play together for a half dozen tournaments the year of the Ryder Cup, including the majors. Learn to get along with each other. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
hckymeyer
What I find very interesting is the President's cup results. US is dominate in that event winning 8 out of 10 with one tie. How do we play so well in that, but then crap the bed in the Ryder cup. Is it because Europe's best (those eligible for the Ryder Cup team) aren't playing? Or does the US actually play better in that event? Driver: SLDR w/ Fujikura Ventus Black 3w: '16 M2 hl w/ Diamana D+ 82 5w: Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Yellow Hybrid: 22 deg. How do we play so well in that, but then crap the bed in the Ryder cup. Is it because Europe's best (those eligible for the Ryder Cup team) aren't playing? Or does the US actually play better in that event? For the President's Cup there are only 7 international players ranked in the top 50 in the world. Even if there were 12 players in the top 50, they are worse than the USA in traveling, eating, and playing together as a team. Couple that with Freddie Couples being the captain all the time, and the USA justs goes out and has fun because they know their team is better. In the Ryder Cup the USA has gotten it into their head that Europe is the better team and they don't play loose and have fun. It's like us struggling with a bad round; we try to hold it together, but by doing so, the fun is gone. I agree with the statement that the USA just needs to play better. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
BIG STU
You don't need a task force this is how you do it. Give each Ryder Cup Player $500,000 appearance money for making the team and then take another 10 million in the pool for individual performance bonus money. Bet then they would get with the program!!
