superduper
I have just been fitted recently and the fitter recommended a Diamana shaft. But I couldn't believe the price tag. You could buy a new driver with that. Ok my question, what is so special about Diamana shaft? And what makes it so pricey?
whiskey golf
Usually aftermarket shafts of that grade are higher quality and employ better materials, tighter tolerances, etc.
superduper
Usually aftermarket shafts of that grade are higher quality and employ better materials, tighter tolerances, etc. But there are $70 after market shafts. $70 and $300 or more is a big difference. What I need to know, does Mitsubishi use exotic material to produce the shaft? Such as material used in Aerospace engineering?

What I need to know, does Mitsubishi use exotic material to produce the shaft? Such as material used in Aerospace engineering? You should check their website for that information, if it's there. And I said that higher caliber aftermarket shafts are that expensive, not all aftermarket shafts. There are many variables that can affect the cost but people are willing to pay that much for high end shafts because the shafts are higher quality, may fit their swing, and for some people they like to see that it's used on tour and that it has been proven in competition. The cost may be worth it for some and not for others.
Mr_Theoo
You can also find pulls on ebay for much cheaper, that way you're getting the same shafts but not having to pay the expensive retail cost. RookieBlue7
It depends on which shaft it is as to what's different from A shaft to B shaft... Be careful buying pulls these days, make sure you ask if it's been tipped any. Lots of places do different things these days to account for adapters now in use. Some tip 1/4" to offset the adapter, some 1/2", some none at all. Just depends on who built it as for if it's been tipped and if so, how much. And it will alter the playability. That said, there are shaft charts out there that you can find one with near identical specs/characteristics for alternative costs. xxio
Another option is to go to a slightly older model. MRC went from BlueBoard, WhiteBoard, RedBoard (since discontinued) to Ahina, Kai'li, then to D+ and S+. Similar playing characteristics but newer tech. Personally not much difference in playability for me. Older models should be cheaper but may be harder to find.
superduper
since nobody can explain why the price is so high, I don't think I'm buying that premium shaft. Thanks!
hckymeyer
Here's the short answer. What makes it so special? It's the best fit shaft for you What makes it so expensive? Materials and craftsmanship Like many others have said there are ways of getting around the $300 price tag of a new un-cut shaft. All have plus's and minus's to them but if you are diligent and careful when buying you can get what you are looking for at a fraction of the cost. I'm also curious, what specific shaft were you fit in to? Driver: SLDR w/ Fujikura Ventus Black 3w: '16 M2 hl w/ Diamana D+ 82 5w: Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Yellow Hybrid: 22 deg. Undershooter
If you don't want to buy premium shafts then don't. But why buy expensive heads either if thats your view? Hell just buy whatever is cheapest and go at it. If you want the best option for you then get the shaft that gave you the best numbers. Find a pull on ebay like was mentioned earlier if you want to save money. Just make sure what has been to the shaft previously.
