Market Research - How Important is the Box When Buying Golf Balls?

I bring my box of balls to the course and set them in the cart dashboard compartment for display purposes. I make sure they are color coordinated with my outfit, specifically my belt and socks. Then, I make sure to point it out to my playing partner repeatedly during the course about this is the how PROS DO IT.

Have to have a box. Retailers have to have them in the box. Getting rid of a box is a HORRIBLE idea. Sure it's wasteful, but there are so many reasons you have to have them.

I can definitely see that from a retailer's standpoint.  Earlier in my life I worked at a pro shop and there are definitely advantages to having uniform boxes.

 

And while as a consumer I don't care about the packaging there is some familiarity and I admit to having a couple boxes in my locker to keep loose items in.  So at least a couple are useful to have.

Wanted to chime in again (from my post on this back in December).

We have been offering the boxed and no-box option ($2 difference) for 6 months now, and split is almost 50/50, not what we expected, but obviously, it is an option people are taking to.!

The box does not matter at all to me since it only transports the balls from the store to the house.

Doesnt really matter. I have a green net bag. I would gladly take it to the store and grab them from a bin if the price is right!

I play different balls off and on. Always a top quality tour urethane cover. My go to ball is the Master Grip C4 Tour. They come in a box but without sleeves. Just 12 balls in a basic somewhat flimsy box with plain color and graphics. I'd provide a picture but I'm lazy and don't feel like it anyway.
