This is no longer on Kickstarter, but the video below gives a good overview of the ForePack.

This little accessory is something I'm really excited about. Essentially, it's four key little helpers that have great potential - especially for those of us who walk the course. I walk about 90% of my rounds, so this is right up my alley.

So, what is it? Well...

  1. It's a 1L hydration system (water or other favorite 'beverages') - I hate carrying water bottles so this is what I'm most interested in
  2. quick access rain cover (without those pesky domes that never seem to fit right)
  3. velcro glove anchor
  4. storage unit (it has pockets for scorecard, pencil, tees, phone etc)

It's not the most technologically advanced new product, but "innovation through simplification" has many advantages, and I'm really interested to see how helpful and well-made this is.

ForePack is still in the pre-production phase, but I'll have a review for you guys shortly and possibly a chance for you to try it out yourself.

First up though, what are your initial thoughts? Is this something that you could see being useful to you? Are there any concerns you have with what you see?

6 foot hose? Wouldn't you be sucking a lot of air? It's basically an intricate Camelback. If you want to drink this way I suggest buying a cheap bladder with hose first. I personally hate drinking from these systems. Have had several Camelbaks for cycling.

I would never store my score card on the outside of the bag. It's in my pocket or in the bag. I don't want to lose it. And I've never understood why people pay for a glove and stick on their bag. Are you trying to lose it?

I know. I'm a grumpy old man. When you've seen enough new ideas and been presented with countless brilliant clubs and gadgets you become sceptical :)

By the way - it looks like it can measure your blood pressure. That would be cool. Feeling dizzy after 10 holes? Check your blood pressure with the combined health and hydration system.

ROTFLMAO!  Furu and I thought I was a grumpy old man. It is sorta a novelty thing. I wonder how much water it holds and with the water weight on your back reminds me of why a Lincoln Navigator has a bigger gas tank than a Toyota Camry just saying. I will take a wait and see attitude on this before forming a final binding opinion

Hey Stu, my understanding is that the bladder on this holds 1L - I'd argue that if you're carrying a water bottle instead of this then there is negligible weight difference, maybe just an improvement in accessibility to the water.

As you say though, time will tell.

I wouldn't be much interested in this either. I play most of my golf at my home club. It's an old compact layout from the early 50's. What's nice about the course design is that about every 3 to 4 holes you are back around the clubhouse. Meaning... you are only a few steps away from some liquids.
