Here's my swing in all it's glory

Recommended Posts

Had some time to kill at the simulator yesterday so filmed a couple of swings.  It's not pretty, but it's not terrible and let's me get around the course without too much trouble (for the most part)  It's a bit rusty with not having played regularly since late Oct/early Nov so try not to be too critical.

I've been working on a shorter backswing for the past season and it's helped me to not come over the top as bad as I used to.  My goal for next year is to be able to hit a more consistent draw and I'm trying to get a positive angle of attack.

Any advice?

Not bad really. My Dad would have loved the squared up stance he was a big proponent of that. Looks like you were a little tense at the top probably because you have just started to shorten the swing. darn good shoulder turn and finish up though. you will find out with the shorter swing that you will control the ball better.

I had my first lesson back in April when after two years of playing I still couldn't break 100 regularly and finally gave up trying to teach myself. The first thing my instructor did was shorten my backswing. At first it felt like I was making a 1/2 swing until he showed me videos where I was always getting past parallel at the top. I haven't noticed much of a loss in distance and my ball striking and control have gotten way better. My misses don't penalize me nearly as much. It also improved my rhythm, tempo, and balance. Before I was slicing everything off the planet with my driver and since then I've been hitting straight to slight draws consistently.
