PGA Show equipment wishes

Okay, this is dreamspace - what do you wish that your favorite equipment manufacturer would announce at the PGA show?

What I'd really like is a hybrid laser/GPS - shoot a spot with the laser and be able to see the spot on the gps

I'd also like to see OEMs announce jointly that they have agreed to a shared adjustable hosel design (I know, I know, we've had this discussion... But this is my list so you have to accept it 😜)

What would you like to see announced? PGA teachers/fitters agree on a fitting process? TMaG announce a fixed release schedule? Have at it!!!

I'd love to see the usga set a standard length/lie/loft for irons. That doesn't mean the OEMS have to follow it but for fitting purposes it would be nice to see.

We could probably add to this and have them announce a standard for how OEMs measure the length of clubs too (grip on/ grip off, etc)

As a proud owner of the Bushnell Hybrid laser/gps, I can appreciate where you are coming from.   I can't tell you how useful it is and I don't understand why it didn't catch on.   Maybe it was too expensive and it certainly uses batteries fast.   But these days they are CHEAP and there was nothing wrong with the design.   The batteries are li-on rechargeable and not too onerous a chore to remember to recharge it every 5 rounds or so.   We do worse with our cell phones.   It recharges via USB cable, easy peasy.

It can laser point to spots like hazards and trees and give you laser yardages to them, but it can't then pull up a gps map and display the spot you've just lasered.   To do that it would have some sort of internal compass, or a smart screen diplaying maps of the course.  That would really suck the power and I'm not sure you'd need the double system confirmation anyway.

Here's how I use mine.   I have a mount on my cart so I can always look at the GPS screen as I walk.   As I get close to my ball this tells me which club to pull.   But I almost always laser every pin regardless of what the gps says the yardage is to center green.   This is because the courses I play have their pins set by absolute knucklehead teenage goof-offs at the end of the day.   They frequently put the wrong color flags in and don't really know what front, center and back pin locations are.

I hope we'll see personal launch monitors that can be used as simulators. Like Skytrak. The launch monitors we have today seem grossly overpriced.

I really want to see someone doing more with all these swingsensors like Swingbyte and Zepp. More integration with coaching. And wouldn't it be cool if you could use Zepp and Golf Game together during your round? Look at the stats, see that the shot went left and look at the swing data to find out why.

Brad's concept of seeing the spot you shoot with the laser is very good. I like it.

A new generation of putter shafts for standard length putters. So much focus on counterbalance. What if there's something to gain by making the standard shaft stiffer?

Cool idea with the laser/gps Brad. It's not out of the realm of possibility. It would need an extremely good internal compass and accelerometer to track your movements in addition to your position, plus a technical procedure of how and when you pull it out and get oriented just to get close. It would be tough without a series of known control points around the course that you could shoot first.

If there were two control points in sight of your position you could shoot first, it would work pretty well. They would have to be programmed in with the course data.

Someday........

I'll have to respectfully disagree Blade - this is my dreamspace and they will announce the product over the next couple of days... ;)

A new international standard where the same hosel adapters and shaft adapters are used by the all of the manufacturers.  Like plumbing.

When buying a driver we can pick any head we want and any shaft we want without paying extra money or having to wait for a custom shaft.  And maybe there could be slide-on grips that counterweights could be added to as well without having to go a clubmaker.

If someone loves the driver head,  but wants to upgrade the shaft, or someone loves their shaft but wants to try a new driver head from a different OEM, the sky is the limit.

Also, I don't mean to be offensive, but I wish there were yellow/green ProV1s, yellow balls are so much easier to see and to find.   White could still be an option for the proud traditionalists.

Respectfully,
DHUCK WHOOKER
