TIBA_Putt - Kyle Posted February 13, 2015 Author Share Posted February 13, 2015 So after just saying how much I love my I15, I've got a new driver in the bag. I still love my I15, and it'll go down as one of my favorite drivers ever. The new one is wicked awesome tho. Here she is. Did some testing of heads over the last few weeks between Taylormade, Nike, Ping, and Titleist. Settled on the SLDR 430 in 12*. Yeah, I know, I went from 8* with the ping to 12 on this one. But I like the more compct head and went 12 because everything said the 430 launched lower. Also, some swing changes have brought my flight down and the 8* in the Ping was getting just too low. If I had chosen the 460, I would have gone 10.5 cause I need a bit more loft now anyway. I liked the way the SLDR it set up. Liked the way the ball came off the face(fast). And did a lot of reading about it in comparison to other drivers and did the same for the I15 to get a good idea of a comparison between the two. Finally got an adapter onto my whiteboard and went out to hit my new baby today. Holy crap. It took a few swings to acquainted with the feeling of this over the ping, but hot damn this thing just goes. With the I15, it had the normal flight you'd expect: Contact, take off of the face, and clearly defined curving climb from spin, and then falling. I could clearly see when the spin started to take over and it would slow and fall. The SLDR launches and just goes. It is the most boring flat trajectory I've ever hit with any driver. I'd read that it was rather unforgiving and hard to control, but I'd read the same about the I15(most complaints about right). And I could do what I wanted with the Ping. So I wasn't too concerned about being able to hit it. So far I've been able to keep it low, launch it SUPER high, draw, fade, no problems.
