I had the same silly thought "What? Someone likes the penta? Maybe I need to buy some?"
Hi Matt, my name is Dave, Welcome to therapy

I'm going to game Z-Star's... after I exhaust the NXT Tours, Nike One Blacks, Bridestone E6, Bridgestone E6+, Bridgestone E7 and Bridgestone Treosofts that I've accumulated. Maybe I will make the coffee at the meetings. ;)

Hmmmm... for some reason I thought they were more. I will still take my Z-Star's at $5 less per box.

When I bought my box of Penta's they were the same as the ProV's next to them, and the same price I've seen for the newer Callaways as well

Tried the Srixon, I believe Z-Star, and wasn't too impressed... Could've been a different Srixon though

Well, it also depends on you too. What works for one player doesn't necessary work for another. Or we'd all be playing ProV's.

With regard to price, it seems to me that the Penta and the ProV1's are a few dollars more per box than the corresponding Callaways, Srixons, etc at all the stores I frequent.

Yeah, this is an old thread but it is cold and rainy so I am reading everything.

I voted for and play Pro V1 and Pro V1x. I like the older Pro V1x's better than the new. So I guess I am a recent convert to the Pro V1. The poll listed Nike One Platinums. That was my favorite ball but they quit making that years ago in favor of the Tour and now 20XI. I loved the Platinum because of the spin but if you can not control the spin the it was a horrible ball. I had friends try it and most loved it around the green, but it could be very short if you had too much spin with the driver and it never went straight. Always, fade or draw, but awesome if you controlled it. The newer Nikes are no different than most of the others.

When I did my ball fitting, I went out and played three complete rounds with each ball. All top teir balls and varied the order so that it was just not on a particular day I played them better. I had saved good balls that I found on the course and had to buy a sleeve or two. At the end of the three week period I compared the score cards. I found that some were definately longer than others but some scored better for me than others. The Platinums were the shortest but the best scoring ball. I was 2.2 stroke less with them then the average. The Pro V1x was the next, followed by the Pro V1s. The worst scoring were the Callaways but they were the longest.

Score is all that counts.

I have played the ProV1x since it first hit the market and that is still my go to ball. I have tried the other premium balls on the market that would be the equivalent, but seem to always go back to what works for me. The only ball that I have found that was close to the ProV1x was the older Maxfli Black Max that was discontinued several years ago. I have done the Bridgestone and Callaway ball fittings and I was not a fan of the balls that were supposed to be optimal for my game.

I was a PROv1x player but after playing a sample sleeve of Penta TP5's I switched. Now I am about to try out the new 2012 Callaway Hex and Bridgestones. We'll see what happenes tomorrow.

barbajo  You'd think a fantasy team with Webb Simpson, Rory, Hunter, Graeme McDowell & Louis Ousthauizen would do some serious damage at the Player's. Well, they did, but not the kind of damage you want...
