OPINION - Taylormade Sponsored Funny Car

Taylormade is known for some creative marketing.  

 

What do you think of their latest way to get the word out?

I'm presuming they must have some market research indicating drag racing fans also play golf.  Even if they don't, if the message is club speed they can certainly use it in their print and TV ads - speed is speed!

 

Marketing is a funny thing - you can have all the data you can gather and try to make as analytical a decision as possible on where and how to spend your money, but as at the old saying goes - 50% of it is wasted.  You just never know which 50%

 

Doubt anyone will watch a race and say "I'm buying an Aeroburner." But I"m sure they're hoping it'll be a part of the brand-building message - it's all part of the puzzle.  

 

One thing is for sure with TM - if you have enough money, you don't have to worry about thinking outside the box.  You basically have no box.

Thats a very interesting approach.  To be honest, I'm kind of surprised that we haven't seen some major cross-sport marketing, such as this or Nascar.

Looks fine. Sadly, the car looks a helluva lot nicer than the club they're trying to sell.

I like it. I'm a big drag racing fan, and Funny Cars are my favorite.

I agree, the graphics look better on the car than the club.
