Is Tiger done?

jmwils81

There is a lot of doubt to whether Tiger will be back any time soon.  At this point I think it's safe to say he won't be playing in the Honda Classic as planned. Do you think his next start will be Bayhill or the Masters? I highly doubt he will miss the Masters.

Is he done? Will he ever win another major with this much stress on his body? The final question is what course will we see Tiger doing his infamous tiger pose, head down, back slightly twisted, right hand at the side with the hand curled up? (I think Zeasy had a good time lapse picture)

That's the Million Dollar Question -- bet we will see him by the Masters, unless he's really badly hurt.  That said, it doesn't look good for Eldrick.  Once the short game, putter and back go, you're just not the same.  Bet you that he does win again, and maybe another major - but I'm betting that Jack's 18 is safe.

It's hard to see anyone go through any injury after performing at a high level for so long.

What I do not understand is the constant "digging" he takes from everyone (Media, arm chair specialist, etc).  If he comes back fine, if he retires fine too.

Let's all change the channel and enjoy watching these young guys take the baton from the old guard....

That's what we want ultimately Hula but, the networks are hell bent on Tiger and Tiger tracker. "this just a moment ago tiger for par from just off the green, looks like he has a perfect lie, oh he chips it waaaay past the hole" "tiger has to make this now for double bogey, OH he burns the edge. That's going to be a Triple bogey for Tiger"

While we miss birdies, Long drives,  Close approaches of the rest of the field.

Thanks, if I wanted to see someone card a triple I would have gone out and played with my Dad.

The most interesting thing about all the Tiger drama is how you never really get any "leaks" from inside, minus the Haney tell all. He must run a tight ship. Tbh, if he had been honest in '09 and '14 (something happened after his 5 wins in '13 that was worse than '09) people wouldn't be so involved in his life. As long as the dishonesty continues, the obsession will.

What's sad is how many people are doubting his injury. When a strong contingent believes you are faking injuries to get out of tournaments, you've lost the crowd. Haney's book doesn't help him, though. Strange times indeed. I'm still shocked about his decline. In the early 2000's I thought he would win 20 majors. Somebody pinch me, this is a bad dream!!!!!

It's interesting that TW coverage finds itself all the way down to the Golf Blog Thread Level too......isn't it ?  So "WE" are all guilty of the continued coverage.

It does get frustrating at times, almost "TMZ-ish", it takes away from the eventual winner and the rest of the field.....

No. He's a pretty big figure in golf. It seems a bit of an overreaction to call someone a creep for having an opinion on Tiger.

Golf and society in general has evolved from just sitting back and watching the sport on tv or in person to being involved. People want to keep up on their Social Media, They want the inside scoop on what's going on in their lives.

I wouldn't call it creepy but, you are correct everyone has their own opinions. I would say it is more trying to get on the players level, see what their life is all about. I know for me I search youtube for non-golf related videos to some of my favorite players.

Rickie, Bubba, Rory, Sergio they all have great stuff out there that shows they are more than just golf.

This kind of scrutiny goes with the territory for being a celebrity, it's just human nature.

It seems like a lot of things are coming to a head for Tiger, expectations, age, injuries (they're real), etc.

I wouldn't trade all his wealth & fame for the hot mess that's going on inside his head right now...

I totally agree,  BUT

If one wants to work for the golf department over at TMZ let's spread the knowledge/trash you dig up.

Why not start a thread dedicated to this instead of inoculating other posts.  I am really interested to find out everyones' "opinion" on Dustin Johnson's off course troubles (really I'm not)  I'm glad he is back too.

My point is this, I have been on MGS for a little bit.  I have seen TW and other viral posts come and go, along with the O.P.  It's getting frustrating when I see a thread that I might find interesting only to see it over populated with "Tiger and Blonds".......  It's getting old......... FAST

The whole question I stated wasn't about his off duty time. It was more based on his current injury and WD from the Tournament. As I posted "When do you think his next start will be?" and "Is he done?"

Nothing was mentioned about his personal life and what's going on with that aspect. I am interested in when he is going to play golf again.

Your post sounds like you really dislike these types of threads. Many like to give their opinions, you don't have to read it or comment.

Is he going to win again? I think so. But I don't see a major in his future. Ricky shot a 79 Sunday and there aren't too many people alarmed about his future. The question is, where can Tiger make a strategic start before the Masters? Is he eligible for the WCG?

Wuuuuut?

I swear I heard it this weekend during the coverage. Discectomy was the term? They went on to describe that the "glutes firing" thing not happening is actually the body shutting down trying to prevent further injury. His body literally doesn't want him to swing. Its shutting down. They said this can happen as a result of that procedure.

Knowing this could happen, he was done before it happened if he was willing to risk it.

I haven't heard that he actually had a disk removed and, it's my understanding he had a MICRO-disectomy (microdiscectomy or microdecompression spine surgery, a small portion of the bone over the nerve root and/or disc material from under the nerve root is removed to relieve neural impingement and provide more room for the nerve to heal.)

Well I've had a double micro discectomy and I fear I may not win another major.....

But I'll tell you this my back felt loose instantly, like it wasn't structurally sound anymore. So I've slowed my swing down....no more 130mph driver swings for me

Anyway, for what it's worth I suspect the days of woods and Mickleson are over. We've been privileged to see players of that skill.

Will Tiger need to make some more adjustments in his swing?  I say yes.  I agree with westy; he will have to slow it down, if his ego will let him.  He's a smart guy; he can figure it out, and win again.

See that's the problem kenny I'm not sure he is that clever - or he wouldn't be swinging so hard.

I'd suggest he doesn't need a swing coach, but an honest physio might help him a lot.

And the thing is who is going to be brave enough to tell Tiger he isn't the man he once was? I would for a small fee......

I submit that he will figure it out when what he has been doing fails to show the results he wants.  Like I said, "if his ego will let him".  He will adapt when he has hit "his" rock bottom.

His last tour win was 2013 yes? So he has two years exemption on the PGA tour if he doesn't make top 125?

So after this year? Does he have to go to tour school?

I hope he proves me wrong, but...

Too many injuries

Too many swing changes

Too many distractions (this is the only area I think he can overcome - been doing it his whole life)

Too many really good players to beat. They all upped their game to match him, he got worse.

I'd be surprised if he wins another pga event.

I believe he is in all majors until 2018, if he doesn't win before then. In 2018 he would have to qualify for the U.S. Open. That's the only one.
