CANOOS GOLF SHOES

Canoos golf shoes.JPG

Yes, boat shoes are polarizing...

...and...

Yes, boat shoes are, well, BOAT SHOES...

But, dammit, boat shoes are comfortable... and when you spend as much time as I do in the sand on the course sometimes you wish you were on a boat!

When I saw that Canoos, a startup from Philadelphia, PA had re-engineered boat shoes into golf shoes I was intrigued (though I have to admit to having had a quick chuckle at the idea initially.

I actually really like the idea. Not sure how it would play out in actual playing conditions in terms of support, but the sole looks like it'd grip well and they are treated with a waterproofing agent to protect against dew etc.

If I were to buy some they'd be the grey ones below - though at $120 that's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

What are your thoughts? Would you wear boat shoes (in general)? Would you wear Canoos? or are boat shoes best left to sailors and hipsters?

Not my cup of tea. If I was going to go this route I would probably choose the Kikkor Slyder.

Appealing for what appears to be a high toe box for my caveman feet, but otherwise, a shoe that is trying to be made into a golf shoe that shouldn't. What's with all these barefoot golf shoes? Sand? Burrs? Grit and grime? Have these people played golf before? These look like blisters waiting to happen, but I walk 99% of my rounds.

I'm like you divots re walking the vast majority of my rounds.

I agree that it'd be very interesting to see how the feet felt after a solid round walking.

I was once sent a pair of what were supposed to be hiking boot style golf shoes for review. They must have added an inch to my height the soles were so thick. My clubs were literally too short for me! I sent them back to them and asked them if they ever played golf too! ha!

These aren't bad. Don't think I'd play a round in them. But i could see myself wearing them to the range or when practicing short game.

I like the looks, I like wearing boat shoes -- and there's no friggin' way I'd play golf in them.   I just don't think the could withstand the torsional stress or toe wear that a golf swing demands on a shoe.  No disrespect to Canoos, but I wouldn't wear a ballet slipper to a bear hunt either.

Those just look like they'd hurt after 3 holes. I need support in my shoes though too.

I can't imagine how horrid these would smell after a nice round in July here in Houston.

Adidas just came out with a similar shoe but it's more vans style slip-on with soft spikes. $70. I almost bought them until I realized I sweat...a lot...even when it's cold outside.

I'd buy them because all I wear are topsiders and boat shoes. They are comfortable for me, but don't know how I would feel using them as golf shoes.
