SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted February 25, 2015 SPY VIP Share Posted February 25, 2015 I'm glad that he's healthier, but I liked that he could win and not look like the other guys on tour. He stood out more. Seems like his presence on tour will now be tougher to establish. Just looks like all of the guys do. Again, glad he lost the weight and is healthier. Just hoping it doesn't end up costing him a ton of lost endorsements. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted February 25, 2015 SPY VIP Share Posted February 25, 2015 Would looks play that big of a role to where he could lose endorsements? I wouldn't imagine it would. I was just thinking that he was more of a draw when he was heavier. More of an "every man" golfer with that more common physique. He stood out from the pack. Think about how lots of people were interested in his wife and how a guy who looked like him could bag someone who looked like her. Now it's not as interesting. If he plays well, aka wins, he will still grab endorsement cash. I'm just saying that his play will really need to stand out on the course since his physique no longer does. dru_
I am a big advocate of fitness, but I think that with golf, there is such a thing as too much gym time. Look at the guys that have gone too far, and the impacts on their game. As they crossed a threshold of too lean/too much muscle, they lost the fluid motions that make their swings great. mr_divots
Hearing he needed to take to bed for a week to come off the "junk food" I think beer stocks took a hit. Will be interesting to see how long he can make it stick. Doesn't seem to be his true nature to be fit and skinny. But his game was tanking, so I think it was needed. Definitely not wanting him to get big and bulky but he is very thin there. There is a fine line that you have to follow that includes strength training and lots of stretching or yoga. Rory still has a very fluid swing after puting on muscle. Kenny B
I'm guessing his wife made him do it. He'd better win soon. BIG STU
I remember back in the day Jack Nicklaus was called "Fat Jack" and he lost weight down to about 190 pounds and then he admitted he could not play as well at 190 so he put some weight back on.
