FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARC ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES "THE SQUEEZE"

First Great Golf Movie In Years to be Released This Spring

LOS ANGELES (February 10, 2015) - ARC Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to the thriller film, THE SQUEEZE. Directed and written by Terry Jastrow, the filmstars Jeremy Sumpter ("Friday Night Lights", Peter Pan), Christopher McDonald ("Shooter McGavin" in Happy Gilmore), Katherine LaNasa (The Campaign), Jillian Murray (Bad Ass), Michael Nouri (Flashdance), and Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars). ARC Entertainment will be releasing THE SQUEEZE on premium VOD and in select markets in 12 top markets in the U.S. on April 17 (Friday after The Masters).

THE SQUEEZE is a caper about a notorious gambler who discovers a modest young man in a small rural town with uncommon golf skills. Seeing his potential, the gambler convinces him to abandon his dreams of winning the US Open and start playing in high-stakes matches. They don't lose. The stakes grow higher and higher until the game becomes "life or death."

"I watched THE SQUEEZE and really enjoyed it," said Jack Nicklaus, Winner of 18 Major Golf Championships. "It's a fun movie that tells an interesting story, and the golf elements are so real you actually believe it could happen."

"THE SQUEEZE is a wonderful golf movie because it's so authentic," said Five Time Major Championship Winner, Phil Mickelson. "It hooks you in the beginning and stays interesting and entertaining right to the end. I'm looking forward to seeing it again."

"THE SQUEEZE has the best poker scene I've ever seen in a movie," said Steve Wynn, Chairman of Wynn Resorts. "If you like gambling, golf and Las Vegas, you'll love this movie."

THE SQUEEZE was produced by Anne Archer, Terry Jastrow, Brian McCormack, Michael Doven, and George Parra and executive produced by Simon Horsman and Milton Kim. The film was negotiated by ARC Entertainment's Trevor Drinkwater and Terry Jastrow on behalf of the filmmakers.

"THE SQUEEZE uniquely captures the riveting story of a wholesome young golfer who gets caught up in the underworld of illegal gambling," said ARC Entertainment's Head of Acquisitions Scott Moesta. "Terry Jastrow and the cast did a fantastic job with this film and it will keep audiences on the edge of their seats."

Sounds good, kind of like The Hustler for golf.

And they can do a sequel in about 30 years based on "The Color of Money."  Actually should be pretty cool to see!

Rating - PG-13

Story line: 3

Plot: 2

Acting: 2

Overall: 2.5

I watched it last night so here's my take. As recalled from my feeble memory....

After about the first ten minutes I said to myself I'll probably not watch the whole thing. But I did. It was a somewhat weak movie I thought. It became clear early where the story was heading. As for the characters I liked Augie. At least he had a good golf swing. Many times when movies or tv commercials try to portray a golfer it's easy to tell the actor hasn't played the game much or at all. It's embarrassing. I didn't know any of the actors in the movie although I have seen Riverboat somewhere. His presence was a little hokey with the costume he wore. His sidekick girlfriend didn't have any relevance. I also looked up who Jimmy Diamonds was. Never seen him either. However, I thought he fit the part and did as good job of playing the gangster type of guy. I believe both of them were in Happy Gilmore? I've never seen Gilmore. I know, I know. But I can't stand Adam Sandler so I never watched it.

What I did noticed about the movie was the lack of crude language and nudity. Ok, there was a shot of the singer girls butt briefly but that was it. I've never thought nudity and profanity contributed to a movie. I'm not a prude and have been know it cuss a little but these days movies are full of it for no purpose IMO. I thought the movie rushed to the finish when the big million dollar match took place. It was like a couple of holes and all of a sudden they are on 18. The movie didn't built up the finish with any drama like I was hoping to see from a golf movie. When the movie was ending I thought the writers were out of ideas and just threw together a plot line that again...IMO wasn't developed and didn't fit the movie. I also didn't think the part where Augie tells his girlfriend about him finding an abandon baby which was raised by his mother a little odd. Again... it didn't seem to fit.

So, over all I rate the movie 2.5 out of 5. Would I recommend it? Not unless you are totally bored. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Will it become another Caddie Shack? Never. This movie will be lost over time. And quickly. Unless the Golf Channel tries to wear us out on it.

So there you have it. Plaids first ever movie review. Have at it.

I'll watch to see if it re-airs.

Not usually a fan of PG-13, however.  A little too Middle-American in sensibilities for a degenerate Northeasterner who only watches premium cable at home !

Still want to see it, though.

My other half has been going to cinema with her cackling friends and leaving me home.

I'm movie starved, lately.
