TourEdge is legit!

Last night in our Men's HD Golf simulator league, I came in and got on the virtual driving range with my TourEdge XCG7 driver. I usually warm up with a sandwedge and then go into a 5 iron than driver but I had been having problems with my driver swing and wanted to work on it some more. I must have had it dialed in because last night I was hitting it nice and hard and in the middle of the club and this thing was flying!

My ball speed tends to be anywhere from 155-165 mph with the driver. My goal is to always carry it at least 260. My problem was that my launch angle was always really low. I had the driver set at 12 degrees because of this but by working on keeping my right shoulder low, I've been able to get the ball up to a more respectable launch angle and now have the driver set at 10.5 degrees and a launch angle of around 13-14 degrees.

Last night, while playing in a match - I was standing on the first hole and had about 270 to reach the rough so I yanked out my CB4 tour fairway wood figuring I was going to hit it about 240. It went 263.3 yards! Well, I thought I just hit it very good. No biggie....

So we get up to a long par 5 about 550 yards and I pulled out the driver and WHAM! hit it perfect hit a baby draw and then we look up at the screen 303.2 yards! I was shocked! Could not believe it. I carried the ball 275.8 yards in the air!

I have never, EVER hit a 300 yard drive. After the game, we checked the settings because you can set the simulators to have the ball go longer, shorter or normal distances and we were set to normal.

My driver came with the shaft that comes with the beta head. It is already factory cut at 44.75 inches.  Unfortunately, I wish I had taken a picture of that stat. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Anyways, my point is that if you are in the market for a driver, fairway wood or hybrid, have a look at TourEdge. I would have never discovered them or even given them a chance had it not been for this site.

Thanks guys, I actually hit a couple of 299's but it always seemed to stop before 300 lol. We played the harbour town course which I believe is a par 71 and shot 77. I had 4 out of bounds because I drove it out of bounds lol. Drives weren't perfect all night but I got the job done.

I love my CB4 tour though. It is a beast! Every time I take a swing with it at the simulators, the people in the other bays look over and usually check how far the ball went. They are THAT impressive. I've hit that 3 wood anywhere between 240-270 and even hit it 290 once (downhill of course). My 3 hybrid can go from 210 to 250 depending on my swing. I love those clubs. I cannot wait to hit my FG Tours. They are at the drop off just no time to go get them.

If you like this driver you should try the fairway woods, they are even better

I second this. My coach has one that is just insanely long.

So really, the question is, with everyone looking for as much distance as they can get, why aren't more people playing them?

Well I have zero places to demo stuff. I've got to drive 2 hours to demo anything so I do a lot of research online. I am fortunate to have a friend who bought the hd golf simulators and now I know more about my swing but TourEdge just seems to be the fit for me. I believe the Wilson irons will b a fit too. The wedges I got to demo so I know how they feel and perform. Finally going today to see how everything fits.

So just got back from the simulators. We ended up playing a 2 team scramble, my brother and I (my younger bro is about a 12 handicap and was playing on a bad leg) and me against my friend who owns the simulators and is a scratch to 2 handicap and another friend with a 14-16 handicap.

We played the Old Course in St Andrews. Here we are, being challenged by these guys, my bro has a bad leg and I just got my irons and putter and was using and old set of Taylormade wedges.

Our opponents shot -5 under and we shot m -9 under! I took care of the driving and my bro was sinking putts left and right including a 63ft eagle putt!! We were actually -10 under and our first and only bogey was on 17. Front 9 we shot a 30.

I didn't get to swing my irons too much because I drove the ball pretty long (I averaged 253 shot a few poor ones but most went 270-290) and anyone who knows the old course knows it's not a long course.

Anyways, had a great time and won a few bucks

I'm very seriously considering a Tour Edge Exotics XCG7. I just need to try and find one (or maybe a newer one) to try and demo. Then I need fitted for a shaft!

I was considering getting the beta but would like to just get the head. The shaft I use is standard on the beta so I would like to demo that one or buy it for cheap on ebay or something. As far as the XCG7 goes, it is, as far as I'm concerned, a fantastic driver up there with anyone of the big oems out there.

Impossible here in Canuck Land. Haven't found a single place carrying them. Trying to replace the R1 I have but its only the big names up here. And, of them all I can only stand the look of the G30 at address but even then I'mm not completely happy with it. I want to hit these Tour's!!! Where do I find them?! I'm in ontario

You can pick a head up for around $60 USD and I got a head and a pretty good shaft for $130. Might be worth picking one up to try and if not. Just sell. I'm also a fan of the G30 because I'm picky at address but I like the Toir Edge I got.

Ok, so I just landed this puppy. A but I  XCG-7 Beta dont know where the shaft lies in quality. Probably a stock shaft yes? I tried to google it but nothing shows up but the 7m3 but the decal reads 7m3.1 And it probably cant be the 7m3 that retails for $375 could it?

What color is it? That's what I got. It's a Matrix Black Tie shaft. A couple years old but solid shafts. They sell them with the black, white, or red tie shafts.

You can pick a head up for around $60 USD and I got a head and a pretty good shaft for $130. Might be worth picking one up to try and if not. Just sell. I'm also a fan of the G30 because I'm picky at address but I like the Toir Edge I got.

you need to share this info because I've been looking for a beta head and can't find one.

What color is it? That's what I got. It's a Matrix Black Tie shaft. A couple years old but solid shafts. They sell them with the black, white, or red tie shafts.

Black Tie. Sent a message direct to Matrix and waiting to hear back. Also had Tour Edge verify the serial number, they say its legit, but who knows. We'll see. Should be hitting it by the 13th

Yep thats exactly what I ended up with. The ball flight is pretty low for me with the black tie but I don't mind it so far. Haven't played a round yet with it. I think if it doesn't end up working for me then I'm going to end up with a Paderson shaft.

I tried the hybrid last weekend and it was the longest of them all.

I would have ordered them but they weren't as consistent dispersion wise as the Titleists.

I will definitely be including them in all future fittings.

This is the response I got from Matrix:

That was a proprietary shaft we made for Tour Edge so you would have to contact them for specs or look online.  It's a version of our 7M3 black tie which is low launch and spin so that version would have played slightly lighter and softer then aftermarket version.

Thanks

Gonna play around with it when I get it, but I don't really see the launch being an issue with the driver having a 12 degree option on it. If all else fails tho I guess I could rip the fujikura I have out of the R1 and try it in the Tour. I can hardly wait!!!

I have the red tie one and ball flight is fine for me. I tend to hit down on the ball so I have it set to 12 degrees so my ball spin is in the 3000's which I don't like. I'm working on hitting up on the ball but my driver swing has gone to s$#t last 3 weeks. I was thinking the beta head would help lower spin. Don't worry about the shafts in those drivers man 'cause they are really good imo

  • 7 years later...

New player, tried the Callaway Rogue set and was fine, Looked up info on low key ''underdog'' brands and found Tour Edge and their Exotics line.

i have since purchased a XCG7 Beta Driver Used from the evilbay. got it for less than $100 plus shipping and the club is really clean, barely used at all, face is very clean Almost unused.

the Driver came in with previous owners settings and i do nothing but Slice. I am new to golf so dont have a real swing down yet, so im not worried, it will come in time.

The current setting is at 9.5 which i think is 2* open, which is likely amplifiying my slice, i think i may change it to 12* for Square face and the straightest and highest ball flight.

Or i will try the 10U which is 1* Closed face and baby draw with mid to high ball flight.

I have played 1 round with the new clubs including driver and i am Excited for whats to come.

Good Luck out there yall,,
