Mr_Theoo
Well today was the first day above 50° so naturally its time to start thinking of those goals for the upcoming season. jpcgolf
My goals this season are to break par, (I have been even going into 18 twice) win one of my tournaments, and to try to play well enough this spring in the AJGA tournaments so that I can play in some of the summer ones without trying to qualify the day before which is basically a crapshoot. It's around 50 kids going for 4 spots or something like that, so you need to be able to have enough stars to qualify. How am I going to try to achieve these goals? By shorter, more efficient practice times, and when I play on the course with my friends in the spring and summer, I have to be more focused and actually play the round more like a tournament, although it is fine to let loose and have a fun round where everyone is going for everything once in a while. GolfSpy Barbajo
Some courses are opening this week in Minnesota!!! It was 5 degrees a little over a week ago.... 2015 Goals: 1. Get stronger and in better shape - getting more important as 55th birthday approaches! 2. Increase GIR's to over 50%, increase FW's hit to 60% 3. Lower Handicap to 6 4. Win Season 2 of Hack To Jack - it's a team game this year. Partnering with Josh Wurzberger from Season 1. Even if we don't win, the goal is to have as much fun as humanly possible. silver & black
Same as every year... have fun. If you don't have fun, getting better doesn't really matter. Having said that, I need to practice putting a lot more... so I can score better...lol.
wbealsd
While I've got some stuff on my wish list, I'm going to focus on what's in my bag NOW and hold off on changing anything for a few months (I DO have a new driver head that will ship sometime in April, though) I'm going in for a fitting tomorrow and anticipate some shaft changes and loft/lie adjustments, but the clubs listed on my signature are set. Winter is for tinkering, now it's time to play! Instead of re-joining the Country Club, where finances would dictate playing almost exclusively at the club, I signed up at a local muni and will be able to play more courses this year. mr_divots
Just to play. I've been very sick for a couple weeks and worry my Crohn's is going to get out of hand and not let me play like I want to. The meds stopped working for me in August and I'm just winging it right now and scared to death what might happen. I've felt really horrible for weeks and think it has affected how I interact with people. Apologies for that. I just want to get better right now. I like playing different courses and I like to travel to do so. Maybe I will join when I settle down a little. NOT! I still have the goal of traveling more this year, and hopefully meeting and playing with MGS'ers along the way. I may be retiring in a few months, so more travel for pleasure could happen. I have several trips that are in the planning stages now. I will be spending a week April 26-May 1 playing golf in Redmond, OR (beautiful area if you haven't played there). I may be headed to SoCal in July; I really would like to head north for a few days in B.C. or Alberta; I'm open to a trip to MN or TX; and I have just booked a condo next Feb. 4-13, 2016 in Orlando with a few extra days on one end or the other for a trip to St. Augustine (sorry, couldn't get the PGA Show week). Mike Z
Really, my main objective is to get back to "playing" the game. I have gone through a major swing rebuild that took way longer than I thought it would. So, beginning with the decline in performance that let up to the rebuild and working through the rebuild, I found that I was making golf work. Practice was more fun. came to the realization that I was "working", playing golf swing but not playing the actual game anymore. And for the most part not having any fun at all. Its just nuts that I spend so much time, effort and money on something that I am not letting myself have fun at. And that's just it, its whether I "let" myself. That is changing this year. Almost killed me when I was a freshman in high school, and definitely changed my life. I will say that I have been very fortunate with my situation though. I haven't had any major flare ups for some time now and am currently off all meds. However, it still can be the source of a little anxiety from time to time. Especially before a round of golf with new people. Hate being that guy who has to run for the woods mid round only to come back missing a sock. Lucky for me my home course is very wooded and it doesn't happen very often! I'm able to keep it in check with diet and the occasional heavy dose of Imodium. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with getting healthy and getting back to it worry and problem free. Now, my goals: Much like last year - Break 80 (more than once) - Get to at least a 10 - More GIR - Minimize the 3 putts. - Win a tournament Been puting together a bag that will work better for me over the winter. mr_divots
Thanks guys. Feel a little better today. Now for golf goals? I want to shoot another personal best this year. I think even par a few times was as good as I could manage last year. 67 and under is the goal for this season. GIR's need to be a little better and need my putting to get hot. Oh, and get better from greenside bunkers. New wedges will of course take care of that! Kor.A.Door
This season, figure out how to score with the putter, I have put myself in good position to score really well, but at the end of the round it's 79-82, when in reality I put myself in position to score 73-75. Putting has a ton to do with it. I've tried everything, I think I need to get pro help for this one, hcp is hovering around 5.5-6.5, and I want to get that down to 3 or less, but I have to putt better. More GIR will also help but putting is the answer to get the score down. Lefties are always in their Right Mind
Severtheties
I keep reading this thread and I'm not sure what to think. I think for me this season its to put a complete bag and game together. I've tried off the rack drivers for a long time and can't get anything to stick. My irons are good and I don't have much complaint about that part of the game. My chipping and putting is good but streaky so I'd like to nail that down. I'd say my goal is to be able to get off the tee much more consistently to give myself a chance with my irons. I think if i can do this I can consistently shoot in the 80's and start the charge to break 80. apprenti23
My goals for 2015 1. To play more than TEN rounds of golf not including scrambles, tournaments, or charitable events. The past three seasons I have failed to accomplish this. 2. To hit one bucket of balls (practice) every other week. In the past five plus years I don't think I've hit five practice buckets of balls total. It's always been with a goal of trying to find a serviceable swing before we tee off. Undershooter
Me Too! Ace Golf owns 2 Driving Ranges and 3 Golf Clubs around Tampa Bay; Pebble Creek, Wentworth & Crescent Oaks. I would never be a member at the club I'm at if their weren't multiple courses. I get too bored playing the same course over and over.
