Possible to get a 'tagging' feature?

Not sure if this is technologically possible in the forum environment, but it would be awesome if we had a tagging feature other than replying to a thread.

 

Kind of like when you write someones name on Facebook they get a notification, if we typed out a members name it would tag them and they would get a notification similar to the "like" notification and it would alert them to the post.

The feature is already here I'd say. It might be in settings. For instance, if some one quotes something I said I see a red notification at the top. In fact I see one right now. It's next to my name. Additionally you can subscribe to posts and you'll get notifications as well.

I know we can quote and like posts to send a notification, but sometimes I might have a question for a specific member that isn't really a quote situation.  Just thought it would be cool if your screen named was mentioned in a thread then you get a notification to go check it out.
