If swings were equal and a driver was properly fit do certain brands travel further?  Another words if a driver were tested on an iron Byron type machine would Cleveland go further than Taylormade or Callaway?  Just examples on brands Thanks!

If you believe the marketing statements they all go farther than each other.

Since there is no way every driver will go the same distance the answer is yes, there are clubs that go further than other clubs.

The important thing however, is not what goes further for a robot or even your playing partner, but what goes further for you.

Don't forget about accuracy as well. As you will find most people on this site willing to give up 10 yards of distance for more accuracy.

If you are looking for which brand of driver goes the furthest with off the shelf offerings I would bet that it changes with every product cycle.

Seems kind of like two separate questions.

Do all driver heads travel the same distance when struck perfectly on an iron byron? - Honestly I don't know the answer.  I would think they don't all go the same distance, but I would guess the difference to be very small.  The COR limits on drivers have been reached for quite some time now and off a dead center hit there shouldn't be a lot of difference.

Will one brand of driver be a better fit for an individual golfer than another brand?  Absolutely, as golfers we all deliver the club to the ball in a different manner, some will be longer than others.  That's not to say that a specific brand will be longer for everyone, just that individual golfer.

For me I don't really care if driver x was 5yds longer than driver y off an iron byron test.  I'm not a robot and all I care about is what driver I can hit the farthest and most accurate.

Options, and we aren't iron byrons.

Put it this way, if one particular driver was actually 10yds longer don't you think we would have all heard about it by now?  My big caveat was hitting it dead center in the sweet spot.  I don't think any one conforming driver will be statistically significantly longer than another when those conditions are met.

Head matters just as much as shaft. Spin variations, some are more forgiving than others. Plus looks and like you said, matching the correct one to the correct swing. You have to find a good fit for you, same as the shaft.
