Just thought this was funny.  I know they tried it last year as well, but seems there is a certain website that thinks MGS must be on to something with their Most Wanted testing because they just happened to put out a "2015 Gear Trials: Best Driver" a couple days before the results from here are posted.

 

Kudos to Mygolfspy for all the work they've put in on the Most Wanted Driver testing and write ups.  I can't wait to read them!  Keep up the #datacratic results and let the other guys conveniently happen to pick the same drivers as the Golf Digest hot list and try to justify it.

Is there really a bad driver on the market right now? Sure, one or two may not work for everyone, but almost every driver out right now could compete for a spot in anyone's bag (stock vs stock) and every driver could wind up in the bag if it is optimized.

I took a look at the site/review last night also. The comments section pretty much says it all. Seems that nobody was buying it. I think it was rated a "shank".

Yep and today their editor is trying to defend the 'work' they did.

 

Not going to go in for bashing generally, because I do like some of their articles (some are dreadful mind).

 

But this 'test' is the worst kind of hogwash - it's no better than a certain magazine that gives its sponsors all the awards.

 

Kudos to MGS and I hope Wilson get the top prize on Monday just to put the cat among the pigeons!

Even better today after the bashing they took in the comments sections the past couple days.  They've now added in a ratings chart for our reading pleasure.  Rated each driver on a scale of 1-10 for forgiveness and distance.  No numbers (#nondatacratic) to back up the ratings and while I'm sure this was purely an oversite and in now way meant to EXACTLY resemble a bell curve it just so happens that the overall scores range from 8.25 - 8.75 with two drivers at the low end, two at the high end and 3 in the middle.

 

Everybody gets a participation medal to take home!!

So, the way I understand it.  They tested each driver with 41 testers over 4 weekends.  But they selected the list of finalists based on votes from club fitters.  The top vote getters were listed and the results corroborated by the tests.  If a club didn't get a enough votes to be on the list, I guess the test results don't matter.  Did I understand it correctly?
