Cobra Fly Z+ Irons Review by Mid Handicapper

I've really been enjoying Rick Shields's reviews and him adding the mid handicapper has made them even better. Its nice to see a normal guy who doesn't teach for a living give reviews about a club as well as seeing some data from them.

LOL!  I am going to start using CC.

I don't really have much choice, but it does make some videos more interesting than they'd usually be - lol

I would have really like to hit these before my big purchase :/ But, every time I go to the smith and hit the Apex Pro's, I get reassured that it was a great purchase. I can hardly wait to get out there and score with them

They are great looking irons. I have never been partial to Callaway so never tried them. Demo day is Saturday here, so maybe I'll give them a try too.

a little concerning that this mid-capper found no increase in distance from his current 4-year old irons. Without knowing what they were its hard to determine how much to read into this, but (and knowing that these are not necessarily in the 'distance iron' category) that's at least an orange flag for me.

FWIW his current irons are the Callaway RAZR X Tours.

I definitely wouldn't be looking for a distance increase If I were going from razr x tours to these. I might even be surprised that these nice forged irons were as long.

RAZR X Tours moving to the Fly Z+?

Has this guy been sleeping in my bed too?

That's too weird. RAZR X Tours definitely don't feel as sweet and squishy as these...

Fly Z+ are awesome irons.  Very similar to the Amp Forged but with better overall feel and same performance.  Comparing the Fly Z+ to the 714 AP2, they are similar in every aspect, feel, performance, looks, etc but with slightly more forgiveness.

and how do they compare to last year's Bio Cell's?

I hit them and I can compare them to the Bio Cell+ which they replace. Head sizes and shape are pretty much the same(at address). Sole(fly-z+) might be *slightly* thicker, but I didn't bring a micrometer to confirm. Distances didn't seem any different to me.

Personally I think the Bio Cell+ felt better in the 8-GW weights in center clubs, but worse in the 4-7 weights on edges clubs. The Fly-z+ had a more consistent feel throughout the set, which overall is a better situation in my opinion.
