Bogey in The Woods
So while i was in Golfsmith today hitting the Fly Z, There was a demo rack of Callaway's XR drivers. While I am not a fan of the company who puts out a new driver as frequently as I change shorts, I figured they had advertised the damn thing enough for me to hit a few with. I took a half swing at first just to see what weight it had. Even the half swing gave me a solid hit and nice ball flight. Even my half swing carried 190 and rolled out 240. I went ahead and addressed the ball and took a solid swing. The ball leaps off the head like a laser. A carry of 270 and total of 298 had my brow furrowed and my wife's jaw on the ground. My normal is 270ish. Ten more balls gave me an average of 293 (once I removed my 2 horrid slices which seem to be my average). This club had a little more weight than the Bertha V which seemed way too light for me to hit right. I have had a serious thought about becoming a Callaway disciple. I know one small session with the driver is not conclusive on how it would play in my bag. Has anyone else tested this club? Is anyone gaming one? Mr_Theoo
I helped one of the coaches at Golftec dial one in for himself. It definitely is a good driver. jbil8802
My range just got a LH demo in. Overall, I'm not a fan of Callaway. Not that they don't make good clubs, I just don't agree with some of their business practices. But, I might have to give it a go next time I get over there. BIG STU
All politics aside if you can hit it that well you need to explore it some more. I am not and never have been one brand loyal (except classic Macgregor) and I play what works for me. I can give two hoots less about marketing strategy or advertising campaigns or who on tour plays that equipment. Like I always say explore your options carefully and then choose. Sounds like you hit the crap out of that thing!
