With the rash of course closings lately, I thought it would be interesting to keep a running list.

 

 RIP Lost Pines Golf Course - Course was in the Bastrop State Park. State said they didnt have the money to keep it running.

Never knew that course existed and I played Pine Forrest across FM71.  Funny story,  I got lost in that area trying to find Pine Forrest and found myself in a neighborhood with all Hawaiian Names, I thought that I was back in Hawaii.  Twilight Zone stuff, it was really weird....

RIP Colonial CC in Jackson MS. Nice little older style golf course that just had too many money problems. Hopefully someone will buy it like they did it's sister course Deerfield in Gluckstadt.

RIP Plantation Palms in Land O'Lakes, FL

RIP Carmel Highland Golf Course on I-15 north of San Diego.  Closed March 31.  With the water situation in California, I wonder if we will see many more close this year.

The Ranches GC, Eagle Mountain, changed management and layout, but still hated by all.  In the middle of a r.e. development so still alive.

All five of the state owned courses, which they're trying to sell but getting no takers, some are on very valuable Park City land:

  Wasatch Mtn  27 holes

  Soldier Hollow  36 holes

  Palisades, Manti Utah

  Green River GC, 9 Holes, Green River, UT (likely the first to go)

Sorta of an off topic but on the opposite spectrum from the original post but the Chinese owned Founders Golf Group just bought 12 more Myrtle Beach Grand Strand area courses as of last Wednesday ( 4-22-15) making a total of 22 courses they own in the area plus they bought one of the booking agencies that do the tee times and golf packages
