Not sure if this is the right place for this....plus I am sure 1/2 of you already have tried this, but I wanted to share anyway incase there is someone (like me yesterday) looking for an easy, safe way to remove those nasty sky marks.

 

First off, if you have got down in the paint, this will not work.  Long story short, I did my quick R15 range session and about the 3rd ball I hit was a dead center half ball size mark.  I hate sky marks, I like nice clean clubs.  So you can imagine how sick I felt when a brand new head has a sky mark!  I inspected the head and it was not chipped, just a dull half circle mark that wouldn't rub off with a towel and water!  So I researched yesterday and say people recommending a buffer, auto scratch remover, Mr. Clean magic eraser...all of these might work...but then I saw the random TOOTHPASTE comment.  So before I went to spend $20 at an auto parts store, I decided to give this a shot.

 

Does brand matter?  Who knows. I used plain old white Colgate that I keep as a backup incase of emergencies.  I first put it on an old toothbrush and got it wet as if I was cleaning my teeth.  Brushed the area for a few minutes, washed it away and it didn't work.  So I figure I would give it 1 more shot.  Put the toothpaste direction on the mark, no water and rubbed it around with my finger, then used a soft towel and applied just a touch of water and pressure.  BAM!  It worked.  The mark is completely gone!

 

Sorry if this is just common knowledge to everyone, but it was news to me and it worked and saved me some tears and money!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing, never tried toothpaste before. I've always used Flitz metal polish and boy it sure cleans up metal woods and irons extremely well!

 

Yes that stuff is awesome!  Toothpaste seemed to work great and HOPEFULLY everyone has that lying around!

The brand of toothpaste doesn't matter as long as it's not children's toothpaste. That's because children's toothpaste doesn't have the mild abrasive in it that adult toothpaste does

Toothpaste also works well on a ton of stuff if the internets is to be believed. I was about to try it on my cars headlights before I saw silver polish works well. Luckily we had a few bottles lying around the house of the silver polish and the car came out pretty ok. Now I'm going to try toothpaste with my driver and see if the toothpaste fixes a few marks on it.

Unfortunately, toothpaste didn't fix it for me.

The finish on the Super LS is white matte and the skymark remains shiny white. At certain light angles, you can tell the difference.

Best thing for foggy headlights is the highest DEET concentration bug spray you can find. Deep Woods Off works well. Spray it on a rag and rub like crazy till they're clear and shiny. Works great

Heheheheh, me and my mind.  Didn't take me long top work out what sky marks were when I read the top post but I did wonder initially if they some kind of strange version of "skid marks" which here in Oz are on your underwear and they too are very nasty!.

Best way to do it is to moisten the head and squirt the toothpaste on your finger and massage it in to the surface
