Grips

So I just realized my Driver, 3W, 3H all have crap stock grips. I have the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G on my irons and I love them. For some reason or other I think it would be weird to have the same wraps on my D,3w and 3h ... I guess I am looking at the Golf Pride CP2 and CP2 wrap for those. 

 

Do you guys have the same grips on all your clubs or do you mix it up?

 

I will probably put the Tour Wrap 2G's on my Vokeys and PM grind 60* when the finally get into the store.

 

Any thoughts on grips is greatly appreciated.

Stock grips on all. Usually, the club gets replaced sooner than then grip lol

Ha ha, yeah the Golf Pride site said grips should be replaced yearly regardless of how much you play. I'm calling BS on that one.

I like a uniform feel through out the set as much as possible.  I find it instils confidence.  Obviously we all have clubs we hit better than others so if they all feel the same in my hand grip wise I can sometimes fool my brain into thinking I'm actually hitting a 9 iron instead of a 3 iron

I play about 80 rounds per year and my grips last between 2-3 years. The ones on my MP-59 are still in good condition (compared to newer clubs such as my driver, hybrid and wedges).

Never had a problem of a club slipping away, so to me it's just another marketing scheme to make you buy more.

I use Pure grips and every club except the putter have the same grip.

I've been using the IOmic Sticky 2.3 grips for a long time on everything except my putters and am very pleased, last forever.

I agree. I replace my grips usually one a season/year. Why? Because I want to. Sure I could have played longer with them. In another post the other day I commented about my recent re-grip using the new GP CP2 grips. I like them and they feel good. I decided long ago that I'm not a cord man and basically like a wrap style grip. I say replace your grips when you feel like it. Most players know when it's needed without some company's prescribed time line.

I use Iomic X-Grips on all my clubs.  I like the tacky feel, and they stay tacky for several years.  Way back in the day, grips DID lose their tackiness after a season or even less, but the newer compounds seem to keep their fresh feel much longer.

I have Iomic on my woods and hybrids and will put them on my irons for next season. My irons came with Lamkin grips so I don't have any complaints there.

I replace mine once to twice a season. I clean them regularly, but using cords (Golf Pride NDMCC in midsize) they tend to start to smell. It's not strong but they do get a smell that transfers to the hands. Usually at the end of the summer and I've sweated and funked em up.

I've never had a set of irons/putter/driver etc long enough to need to regrip lololol.

I use golf pride tour wraps in the woods dont know why i prefer them in woods but lamkin utx grips irons through wedges.

I change my grips at least once a season. Usually at the beginning. It's just nice to have that fresh feel to start for me.

I have the same grips on everything but the putter. I also make sure the widths before the grips go on are the same as some shaft butt diameters are slightly different between my iron shafts and woods.

I never replaced my grips on the last set. Think I will start doing it every year in the fall once this season is done and I can afford to get regripping stuff.

I've got a super stroke on mine and it definitely takes some of the weight out of the head, but my putter head is like 357g or something like that, so that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Me too. I usually replace mine every other year.

Driver, 3W & 5W all have Lamkin REL's.  My irons were recently reshafted, so I put PURE P2 Wraps on them. My SCOR wedges have Golf Pride Tour Velvets.

Mine is about the smallest putter head you can have, it's 335 grams according to golfsmiths site. That's my big worry.

Yeah, it might feel way off having a lot of weight at the grip vs head. But, maybe that'll work for ya. If you go super stroke, have them try to put it on without tape. That's how mine is. Shaft is just big enough to hold it on. Those things are damn near impossible to blow off with a compressor if they're taped. And expensive to cut off.

Every club in the bag (except putter) has the exact same grip with the exact same outside diameter. There's nothing worse than having one grip feel smaller or larger in the set. My woods have older Matrix Ozik shafts and some of you may remember that the butt diameter in those is MUCH smaller than anything else, so those clubs have about 3 more wraps of tape than other clubs.

 

I know what grips I like, so I will instantly hate a club without having my preferred grip on it and built to the size I like.

 

I don't think I can handle it if I had different grips on different clubs!

 

Shocked at how many of you guys like Iomics- worst grips I've ever used.

I switched to the Golf Pride New Decade grip this year. I'm loving them!

Lamkin UTx midsize, same grip on everything. They are really nice grips.
