westy Posted June 29, 2015 Share Posted June 29, 2015 So out of nowhere one of our seniors playing off 15 shot 79 on Saturday in the first round of club champs - course was brutal and not many shot in the 70's (hell I didn't!). On Sunday the pressure got to him and we could hear him laughing all over the course. Chinese whispers were all over the place that he made 15 on the short par 4 9th. We crowded round the last green to see him come in..... Well he made a good 5 down the last and we all wondered if it could be as bad as we'd heard. Oh yes. It was 111, a full 32 shots worse than the day before. From leading the handicap comp he ended up close to last. However, he was happy - he'd won some money for the first round, his handicap came down by 2 shots and everyone was buying him drinks. Anyone seen a bigger swing? Made 5 straight doubles and a bogey on the front then lit it up with four birds and an eagle on the back. The first round I had a 7 putt and two scores that were above 10. The second day wasn't too awful iirc. The guy running the tournament made a point to say it's not everyday you go out and shoot 20 strokes lower so there's something to be happy about. A kid in the next tourney I played in shot a mid 90s the first day and threw a 83 up the next day. Ended up first in the bracket and the next day lost 6&5. He was a classic boom or bust guy, but he was 16 or so. Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybriid stiff stock shaft.
