Make sure you remember it is an honor, and you are representing all of us.

First raise all the money you want for the campaign you want. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON ADS ON TV OR RADIO. They are going to cover you on the campaign trail anyway, it's news. Someone wants to pay you for an appearance fine. Be Honest about your views, don't BS America, we can see it.

During the finial weeks, announce which charities you are giving the 100's of millions of dollars you raised on your campaign and were paid for appearances. Donate where it will do the most good and help the most people.

Who isn't going to vote for the straight talking, not lying, no BSing candidate who donates all the campaign money to charity?

Someone needs to hiring me as their manager!

Agreed - Sadly politics or religion are not a safe topics but clearly John Barry posted this as humor not politics - I think it's a riot not an invitation to a fight. 

 

Having written that I'm very sad that politics and religion are not safe topics.  It astounds me that people will not only dislike but go so far as to hate people whom they disagree with on those topics.  So John Lennon writes a song that blames those two things in part for world wars and he misses the point, if you eliminate politics and religion people will find other reasons to fight.  They'll do that because they are people but that would fall back into religion and we don't want to go there.

Id respect someone who did all that.  Too bad its never going to happen because theres too much special interest and too many back room deals that go on.

Ive always said that its difficult for anyone to be honest once they get to a high level of government because theyve had to make too many deals and owe people too many favors.  Its like honor among thieves.

IMO, its probably always been like that.  Its just that nowdays with social media and 24 hour news channels, we hear about it a lot more than we used to.

True, we seldom have actual duels or cane beatings between political rivals these days.

 

That might be preferable to some of the debates, though.

Of course it was for fun, we would never see it actually happen. Asking for an honest, generous, humble and charitable politician is a joke in and of it's self!

I actually do know quite a few politicians (elected officials anyway) that I'm friends with, and feel they do the best they can "under the circumstances."

 

That said, I wouldn't want to deal with the level of frustration they deal with trying to get anything accomplished.
