kfilly20
I like to ****** and moan occasionally if you haven't noticed and I occasionally like to listen to others do it as well. I'd like to start a golf pet peeves thread. Anything you want from slow play, to crazy rangers, etc .... I'll try and keep it light hearted as possible. First. Losing balls that you see bounce or just land in general. Or not being able to find a ball that is in a wide open area. The other day I hit an 8 into a green from 155. Hit it a bit long, saw it hop on the back of the green, or possible just off onto the fringe and I figured it rolled down as its an elevated green. NBD, there is a ton of room behind the green with 1 large tree and not much else. Worst case scenario in my mind is it took a horrible bounce and rolled down to about 10 feet off the green. I get up there and, damn, no ball to be found just a bunch of grass. It was a slow day, and this happens fairly often on this course for some reason, so I look for like 5 minutes. Nowhere to be found. There were no golfers around to have stolen it. A squirrel is my best guess. Anyway, not a good start to the round. Kor.A.Door
When you are playing in your Saturday game and a guys leaves himself a gimme, everyone in the group says take it away, and he putts it into the hole anyway, and it was for double. If we give a putt I like to tap it back to them to not give them the opportunity to waste more time. mizuno_lover
When you are standing over a critical putt whether the rest of your group realise it or not and two members of the group continue their conversation in low tones so that all you can hear is that distracting low mumble. I want to say shut the f**k up or talk normally but don't mutter, because loud talk I can shut out but low muttering drives me crazy Great thread Kfilly I'm sure we can keep this going for an eternity or so. Kor.A.Door
Got a new one after playing today, pet peeve #2, the guy that walks around oblivious to,anything around him, I had to back off at least 5 shots today, and I have never had to do that. Birdie putt on seven, he promply started a convo with his partner as I was about to stroke the ball, another several time chipping where he would walk and pace around in the way of where you were going to hit. On 18 I had a 35 foot putt for birdie, and right before I stroked the ball I took a peek at the hole, and there he was walking right by the hole. I don't have to play with him tomorrow so that's good. Drove me nuts all day. Lefties are always in their Right Mind
Jmikecpa
I played with cliche guy yesterday. If he told me "that will play" one more time on a drive ripped center cut I was going to throw him in the lake. He told my buddy that played with us "oh it opens up over there" after he hit a tee ball 50 yards deep into the forrest. sp0rtsfan86
Slow play. Hands down. Not letting people play through. Those are easily it. The worst thing to ever piss me off was a guy in NJ. I'm in the bunker and he's putting his 35 footer. You say he's playing fast right? Well I was in the bunker and set to hit when he walked over to his ball and started his routine. then he decides to go through another routine after leaving it ten foot short. After that he walks off the green to the next hole obvious to the fact my buddy and I are on the green still waiting to putt out. I actually walked and hit mine and said something like no I don't need to putt or anything, guess were off to play the next hole. Guy didn't get the message, and my buddy and I ranked him possibly the most annoying/unfriendly round ruining playing partner we've ever played. Another pet peeve is where they cut pin locations. On 10 they love putting the hole right on the crown of a hill. Problem is the putt breaks 4 different ways. I've seen people 3 putt 4 footers. It's an unfair spot, but the pin is there usually 2-3 times every two months. Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybriid stiff stock shaft. kfilly20
One experience that really stands out. We were playing a round, there were some construction workers in front of us, they were bad but they were moving fairly decent. We were only waiting a bit on each hole. Anyways we get to #9 and as we are driving up to the green we see one of their carts pass us on the way back, likely taking one of their group back to the car that had to leave. Great, we'll be able to pass them up and have a free path on the back 9. We see them sitting on the 10 tee box, as we are chipping and putting. They are just waiting, waiting, waiting .... still no return of the 3rd guy. We putt out and start to drive over, they see us and they hurry and tee of and hastily hit their drives. What the fu?! Still no return of the 3rd guy. We pull up and they are like "Oh, sorry man we are just waiting for our buddy to get back. We'll hurry up and get out of your way." So instead of letting us play through, they sit around waiting until we get right up near the tee box then they hurry and go. Dicks. There buddy comes plotting past as we are about to tee up. Some people are clueless. There's a bathroom on the turn that is just far enough out of the way in between 9 and 10 that it can cause an issue if a few people use it. It's always awkward walking up on a guy whose walking out and trying to figure out whether to play through or let him go and have to take a 5 minute break.
