Don't you just love it...  Tiger is tied for 2nd with 2 other guys, but his name is listed right after the leader Gore.  He doesn't tee off last with Gore, but that is the impression you get by looking at the names.  The pairing should be listed in the order of starting, just like they do on the European Tour.

Rev, spent the last 48 hours on the island of Majorca at an old friends wedding - spectacular. I'm not used to mixing with the rich and famous but i could get the taste, shame I'm a government employee!

 

I get back an hour or so ago and check - yep the fantasy team has gone badly.

 

Yep tiger has shanked the shortest chip ever.....

 

And the likeable Davis love is creating a great story.

When does Tigers PGA tour privileges end? Was it a 2 year exemption or 3 after his last win in 2013?

 

I know he's fine for the majors.

 

Obviously he can rely on invitations to an extent, but you only get so many each year don't you?

I think that he is still exempt based on his 2013 wins at the WGC events. I think that the winners get a 3 year exemption on the Tour for a win.

If Tiger doesn't qualify by other means, he can use the Lifetime Status as long as he maintains a stroke average of 3 strokes over the field average for tournaments.  Right now, that might be iffy!

 

I don't think it works for WGC events though.

In my last post.  There are criteria for the 20 win Lifetime Exemption.  It's status is lower than other exemptions.  I think he can play pretty much where he wants except WGC events; US Open until 2018.

 

EDIT:  Tiger will join Tom Watson, VJ Singh, and Davis Love III in this category;  Love is now exempt for 2 years after his win yesterday.

Phil will qualify when his other exemption status runs out.

 

Players have to be active on Tour, have 20 wins, and maintain 3 strokes above field average to use this status.

 

Of the players close to 20 wins that are active, Ernie Els needs one more win and Furyk needs 3 wins.

Interesting I did not know about that exemption category. Pretty fair I reckon.

 

Mind you it might not be a bad idea for tiger to rock up in Europe or Far East and play; might be good to get away from the states and play.

 

World golf champs is based on world ranking, he's going to have to win a couple to get back to top 60 from where he is now......

The other interesting part is that you can only use the lifetime exemption so long as you don't fit into any other category (i think for that tournament which you are trying to enter).  I also read that as a lifetime member you are not limited to the amount of sponsor invites that you can receive in any given year.  This is almost like trying to understand the NFL salary cap.

The NFL salary cap is a cinch compared to the MLB one. :)

MLB is not so much a cap as it is a tax, but yes I agree that the NFL is more straightforward that that calculation. Keep in mind this is coming from a CFO that looks at complex math and models on a daily basis.
