Maverickping
Curious, if you are dressed well does it translate over to your game? Not interested in what you wear... but if you are dressed well to your standards; does it help? For myself, I think I do play a little... better. For me it is a mental thing I guess but thought I would seek out the wisdom of those here.
fozcycle
It's a mindset....if you are comfortable with yourself and the way you look, then it will transfer to your game. Kenny B
I have always thought that I played better wearing long pants, but it's so hot here in the summer that shorts are a must. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
westy
Yep, it's about being organised for me. I turn up and everything has had a bit of thought then it follows through to my practice and my game. BIG STU
That was one of my old man's pet sayings "Dress good look good play good" and he was a dapper dresser himself. I may play old junky looking clubs (to some folks standards anyhow) but I do dress nice when playing and have added a little flair lately that has some folks thinking I have a screw loose. My Nike golf shoes my GM friend gave me are white with some Nike neon green and blue in them. I Installed the Nike neon green laces in them. My older but clean Foot Joys are solid white and I put neon Pink laces in them. Messes with people's minds as to why an old fat fart would wear something like that Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. deejaid
I think a lot of golf fashion has gotten too casual, but I think dressing better just makes the entire golfing experience better for me. I'm not a businessman, nor do I attend church, so the only time I wear my nicest clothing is on the course. Like Kenny, I prefer slacks when playing, but summer in wine country you need to wear shorts. PlaidJacket
I used to have a thing during tournaments. On Fridays I'd wear some decent everyday stuff. On Saturday I'd wear my "work" clothes. Work clothes? Yeah.... like an older pair of shorts with a few grass/dirt stains that didn't quite come out, an old school worn shirt, and a sweaty crumpled cap. Then on Sunday and if I was in solid contention I'd spiff-up and bust out the good stuff. A sharply creased and pressed pair of short or pants, a top quality dry cleaned shirt, a nice white Titleist cap, and clean (polished if necessary) shoes. How ya like that boys? NiftyNiblick
I look like an unmade bed no matter how much effort that I put into my attire, golf or otherwise. I look the least messy in a suit, but unless Walter Hagen makes a comeback, that doesn't look promising as upcoming golf attire. I usually wear solid color long trousers with a polo shirt for which I stupidly overpaid at some casino/hotel somewhere. On occasion, I'll wear a loud, floral print shirt instead. With my girth, that takes some cajones. I used to wear, in the hot summer months, a straw fedora like Sam Snead; but modern cars have those miserable head restraints that make it impossible to wear any kind of full brimmed hat. It's as though the cap industry has paid them off. If Sinatra were still alive, we wouldn't have that kind of head restraint nonsense. On my own, I don't have the juice to stop it. evershady
I like to dress with some flash, a little bit of Rickie style. I usually where bright colors, greens pinks, plaid pants. On Sunday I like to where orange pants with a blue shirt or opposite of that. For my Broncos. Get lots of compliments on the orange pants though usually the head turners.
