CONTEST: DIY Putter Refinishing! submit by 10/31

This was posted in contests, but since this is the putter thread, I thought I'd add it here too. ( Sorry if this was a faux pas)

After seeing RookieBlue7's posting of his refinishing of his Scotty Cameron (http://forum.mygolfs...d-tei3-newport/), it gave me an idea for a new hobby that I don't really have time for, but want to do anyway.

Also, I have a box of Cork Tree Putter Grips left over from a charity fundraiser that I don't really want to ship back and would rather buy one to give to you.

Contest:

Find a putter than needs some love. It can be your current gamer, an old putter in your garage, or run out to Goodwill, eBay, or your local golf shop and pick up a project putter.

Refinish it any way you want: you can do a pimp-list style, classic colors/lines, or keep it clean and basic. This can be done at home, work, Home Depot, a friend's shop, but please this must be done YOURSELF, no professional refinishing (Putter Lounge, eBay refinishers, or LaMont, etc. )

You can coke it, bake it, torch it, stain it, plate it, grind it, stamp it, engrave it, paint-fill it or whatever your heart desires, but make it look good.

You can reshaft and even use your own grip if the style and color scheme work, but the prize is still the same

This contest REQUIRES PICTURES:

1) Pre-finish: backside/flange, topline, bottom, face

2) Process pics- if you replate it, take a pic of your set up

3) finished product

If possible, post pics and include descriptions as you go

Prize:

The Cork Tree putter Grip of your choice from the following:

Stumpy black only

Bandit: Red, Black or Pink

Gimme: Red, Black or Pink

Slim Jim: Red, Black, Blue or Pink

Deadline: Hey, I have 3 kids and no time, so this one's gonna be due on Halloween, Saturday October 31st.

Great idea Casey. I'll keep and eye on this post to see what some of the guys come up with. Sorry I won't be entering this time. My work bench is so cluttered up with stuff. Perhaps I'll get out there and straighten it up in case an opportunity comes along again.

I think you might be on to something with the contest. I haven't seen a member propose anything like this before. Hmmm?

I love the brass and green combo, i was thinking of doing that to an old Golden Bear in my garage

Ya it turned out really nice!  I never thought green would look so good with that brass color!

Was that Scotty carbon or stainless? Do you remember the oven temp & time. On that Goldenbear, I was also thinking of torching it to make it purple, or copper plating it.

The TPM 12 is carbon, so Im thinking of gun blueing or black nickel plating.

Testor's enamel paints

Metallic blue dots, cherry red TPM

 

 

 

Splading m white and all else In silver

 

 

 

Next comes sealing, re-installing the shaft and a new grip
