I have a bushnell range finder.   When I play, I put it in my right pocket of my pants.   When swinging, it kinda limit the movement of my thighs.  Do you guys have a better idea on where to keep the range finger when you are playing?

I ride a golf cart and rarely walk with a trolley.

When I ride, mine is either in a cup holder or if it doesn't fit, then it goes in the compartment behind the cup holder.  That way I can grab it when I get to the ball an laser before I get out of the cart. When I walk, I attach the case to my golf bag using the carabiner on the case.  I can pull it out of the case, laser, then grab the club I need.

When I ride, which is mostly, it's in a cup holder.  When I walk I keep it in one of my bag pockets.  It may be compact but it would be way too large to have in my pants pocket while hitting a shot.

I have the V3

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

???  Can you picture this?  You keep it in your golf bag.   At my golf course, carts are not allowed to run on the fairway, there is cart path for the carts.   So if you keep it in your golf bag, you take it out to go where the ball is.   Then you get the reading.     And then since you don't want to store in your pocket, you leave it on the ground and then take the shot.   You just hope your golf partners don't step on the range finder after you made the shot and they are forget that there is something on the ground.....   maybe i just worrying too much.... heh....

PS: golf carts are not allowed because it's soggy in the morning, it will leave a mark on the fairway....

Sounds like your issue isn't where to store the rangefinder when riding around, it's where to put it while you take a shot after walking to your ball.

First off do you bring multiple clubs with you from the cart when you walk to your ball?  If not how do you pick which club to bring since you haven't shot the distance yet?  If you only bring one and already picked the club before shooting the distance then what's the point of having a laser in the first place?

Don't need to make this any harder than it has to be.  Put the rangefinder in it's case, throw it in a cup holder or the cubby next to it.  Drive parallel to the ball, grab your rangefinder and a couple clubs and go walk to your ball.  Shoot the distance, select club.  Put rangefinder back in the case, set it on the ground next to your other clubs and hit.  Pick everything up and go back to the cart.  Rinse and repeat.

If your mates are stepping anywhere within 3 feet of your ball seconds after you hit and before you can pick up your laser they are way to close to begin with.

Yes, you simply restated what I had in mind.  Leave the rangefinder on the ground.   I just have to remind myself not to forget to pick up the range finder.   Because sometimes after hitting a bad shot, I could just run to the golf cart and speed up the cart, LOL!

Before the round tell your buddies that if you forget to grab it and they call you on it you'll buy them a drink. Guarantee you only forget once 😄

I have a magnet holder for my Bushnell that attaches to the windsheild post. My Bushnell has a knob made to slide right into it. As far as setting down the range finder in your situation on wet fairways carry a towel with you and set it on the towel and you will not forget it

My rangefinder case has a long enough strap, so I just strap it on the outside of my cart bag.

Once I've got my distance from the range finder, I set it down where I have to walk past it when I walk back to the cart.

I haven't walked away from a shot without it, yet - lol

Apparently there is a need for the rangefinder holder hat?

Otherwise it is like my mom always said, "you boys lose everything, if IT wasn't attached, you'd lose that too".

There was a commercial on the golf channel, this lady had these really cool glasses with built-in rangefinder functions. That's what we really need.

Respectfully,
DHUCK WHOOKER

I agree with Dhuck......we need a rangefinder hat, maybe one that allows the rangefinder to flip down when needed then flip up when you address the ball.

image.jpgsuperduper: I am newly selected MGS Bushnell Tour X tester, and posting as tester under another thread. BUT, I find your inquiry into method and process very interesting. I just received the new unit, and already need a new process. I walk 95% of the time. My old Bushnell unit had a means to attach a lanyard, and I keep the unit leashed to my bag with a carabiner. I have not left it on the course a single time in 6 years. The new unit has a great case, or I can use a pocket on my bag....but I just want to keep it simple/quick/repeatable/fool proof. The 36" lanyard was my safety blanket and quick shot method. The new Tour X model has no provision for a lanyard. )-;When I use a cart, ditto on other comments with cup holder...but the lanyard always helps me keep track of the rangefinder. Will post more on the tester site; best regards.

Keep it in the short grass......Thanks John Williams.
