The ironic thing in all of this we were watching some old DB concert footage on one of the upper channels on DTV Saturday night. One of the local radio stations played his music all day yesterday and so I listened

Mainly, I'm reminded of how devastated I was when Sinatra died.

It actually seemed as though entertainment itself was now part of a prior life. Unless you grew up in what was essentially the Italian-American urban ghetto, it would be difficult to understand the social influence of this man across multiple generations.

 

 

Although I did get a small taste of it a couple of decades earlier because I was doing my thing in hostile "right-to-work" country down south in 1977 when Elvis Presley died. All the nice southern ladies working in the offices looked like Tammy Faye Baker with mascara stripes on their faces. I remember being a source of many consoling hugs that day (never having been one to waste an opportunity).
