Looks like Toulon putters is slowly leaking pics of their 2016 line via Instagram, prior to their full website launch in 1/28 in the middle of the PGA show.

I'm not a fan of the Madison ( I know it's a classic Anser design, but the rounded bumpers don't donut for me.

Yesterday they released pics of the Rochester, and while it is another recycled design, something about the sharper cornered bumpers on this speak to me.

Figured someone would post them first.

I thought there might be more of a follow up here since MGS posted Toulon stuff earlier this week, but since there hasn't, I thought I'd share my findings.

Here's the SAn Francisco:

i like this design as well.,,however from an aesthetics standpoint: nothing amazingly new. As BIG STU pointed out on WRX, the adjustable weight being very low and centered is a nice addition, you can take this from 352 g with the aluminum insert, 365 with stainless and 385 with tungsten.

I'll post San Diego putter pics once I find them

Former TaylorMade Golf Executive Sean Toulon Launches Premium Putter Company, Toulon Design

San Diego-Based Toulon Design Ready to Burst onto Golf Equipment Scene with Release of Five Handcrafted Putters Engineered to Inspire and Perform at the Highest Level

Vista, CALIF. (January 24, 2016) – Considered one of the most known and respected golf equipment minds in the last two decades having brought forth game-changing technologies in the equipment industry, former TaylorMade executive Sean Toulon has launched Toulon Design, a company focused on creating ultra-premium, high performance putters for Tour professionals, Club professionals and amateurs who seek the highest quality and performance.

Toulon, served as Executive Vice President of Product Creation for TaylorMade Golf for more than 16 years, where he inspired leading-edge design and product creation teams that developed TaylorMade products for the last decade and a half. Despite his noted success with metalwoods and irons, his passion has always been in putter design. Toulon built TaylorMade's “Rossa” brand in the early 2000's and eventually struck gold with the Spider, a high MOI mallet shape favored by top ranked golfers across the world including Major winner Jason Day.

As a lifelong golfer who is intrinsically passionate about creating truly authentic world class products, Toulon, who founded the company with two of his sons Tony and Joe, believes “Toulon Design” can become a household name in the golf industry.

“Toulon Design putters combine precise engineering quality, born through the use of aerospace and defense-inspired manufacturing techniques, painstaking attention to each and every detail, and freshly conceived technologies that will deliver profound feel, sound, and ultimately, improved roll,” said company founder Sean Toulon. “We confidently believe our new putters will raise the bar not only for magnificent beauty, but also for best-in-class performance. We are very excited to bring our putters to the global marketplace, and to passionate golfers everywhere.”

For his opening act, Toulon is ushering in five putter models – each with a classic TOUR-proven shape, a luxurious satin finish and bearing the name of a U.S. city with rich golf history or unique significance to the Toulon family.

2016 Toulon Design Collection

Madison

The flagship putter named after Toulon's hometown is an iconic style blade that has been designed to perfection. Its flowing shoulders and bumpers have been completely redesigned giving the putter a more symmetrical look from address. Upon further inspection, golfers will see the lines are only part of the detailed craftsmanship. The Madison features a classic L-neck design hosel, sought out by some of the best putters in the world.

Like every putter in the 2016 line-up, the face of the Madison features Toulon's Deep Diamond Milled face pattern that creates incredible sound and feel. Aside from its stunning appearance, the micro groove inside each diamond pattern promotes a forward and tighter roll that eliminates skid leading to improved accuracy and consistency.

San Diego

A classic Tour design, the San Diego, similar to the Madison, is expertly tailored and very sleek. Seminole to the look of the San Diego is its linear lines which are sharp and crisp. Combine these lines with a radius and edge that have been painstakingly milled and then hand polished and out comes a desirable putter. The San Diego, given its name because it is where Toulon Design was founded is further complimented with a classic L-neck hosel.

This putter's name is also a nod to the golf equipment industry, which operates in San Diego County from Chula Vista, through Carlsbad and up to Oceanside.

Rochester

Featuring a shorter blade in a snub nosed pin-tail inspired design, the Rochester is a bit of a throwback. The Rochester favors the golfer who wants a blade style putter, but desires the added forgiveness the cavity back design provides. No corners have been cut in the beauty and craftsmanship of this putter which was given its name after the extensive golf history of the city itself. Most notably, Rochester was the hometown of golfing great Walter Hagen, who captured 11 Major Championships. He is remembered for his dashing style and undeniable charisma which we paid homage to in the design of Rochester logo.

San Francisco

This design features an asymmetric half-moon shape and longer heel-shafted flowing hosel with a wider flange. It's single sight line and cavity help frame the ball and make this design easy to align. The San Francisco model is sure to be a favorite amongst the most discerning players. The putter received its name to pay homage to the abundant golf history surrounding golf courses like The Olympic Club, Harding Park, San Francisco Club and Lake Merced. On these venues, underdogs like Jack Fleck, Billy Casper and Scott Simpson were able to take down icons like Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson. “San Francisco” is also significant as co-founders Tony and Joe Toulon both played collegiately for the University of San Francisco.

Memphis

Nicknamed “Soulsville U.S.A.,” the city of Memphis – a long time stop on the PGA TOUR – is known for its unique soul music, charming character and vivacious culture. Team Toulon used this as inspiration when engineering the only true mallet style putter in the 2016 line. In maintaining their design philosophy of reducing as many competing lines as possible to help the golfer improve their alignment, this multi-material design is destined to gain “classic” status. It's subtle yet flowing single bend shaft design yields the company's lone face balanced putter for 2016. It is complimented by a simple, single center cavity sightline.

Dual Component Design

Despite their different sizes and shapes, all Toulon Design putters are milled separately from a single block of 303 stainless steel. As a result, this gives Team Toulon extreme flexibility for player customization. Through a technique called “vacuum brazing,” Toulon's supply chain, which consists of some of the highest quality aerospace and defense contractors, are able to seamlessly fuse the hosel and head together, joining two pieces into one. The two pieces of metal are joined by using an alloy and placed in an oven at 1900°. Once removed from the oven, the putter looks, feels and performs as if it had been one piece all along.

“We have developed a library of different hosel configurations, which not only allows us to quickly create new models for testing, it also allows us to create one-off designs for tour players very quickly,” explained Toulon. “In my experience, it is a challenge to marry together a player's affinity for a particular head shape with their hosel preference. Now, with our unique manufacturing process we can meld the two together into one piece which makes us unique within the golf industry.”

Adjustable Weight & Grip Options

Not all golfers are the same. Aside from just personal preference and feel needs, golfers also putt on various putting surfaces and grasses and of course different green speeds. On top of that, golfers are looking for different performance needs to match varying stroke styles. Some golfers release the putter effortlessly. Others might want to encourage a more aggressive releasing of the head. Toulon Design putters have been designed with three different sole plate weight options to change the weight of the head.

-Aluminum (7grams)

-Stainless Steel (20 grams)

-Tungsten (40 grams)

Each standard length (33-35”) putter from the 2016 Toulon Design collection weighs 350 grams and is equipped with a Lamkin Deep Etched rubber paddle grip which features a horizontally etched pattern as well as a unique surface texture making it an ideal choice for players seeking feel and maximum stroke feedback.

Introducing Moderate and Aggressive Release Counter Balance putters

For golfers seeking additional stability and control, two counterbalance options – “Moderate Release” or “Aggressive Release” – will be available for order.

The “Moderate Release” employs a stainless steel sole plate that brings the head weight to 365 grams. It is also paired with the new Toulon Design SuperStroke Midslim 2.0 grip with a 25 gram butt weight. This model is available in 34-36 inch length options.

Toulon Design's “Aggressive Release” counterbalance option utilizes a tungsten sole plate that raises the head weight to 385 grams. These models are paired with the Toulon Design SuperStroke MidSlim 2.0XL grip with a 50 gram butt weight. This model is available in a 38-inch option.

Pricing & Availability

Toulon Design (including the website) will officially launch Thursday, January 28 at 7:30am during a press conference with its partner Squarespace inside the Presidential Suite at the Hyatt Regency. The company will be at the putting green at the PGA Show Demo Day on Tuesday to showcase its 2016 offerings.

All five putter models will be available at $399, with the “Moderate Release” counterbalance available for $459 and “Aggressive Release” for $499. A variety of custom options are available at time of order.

They are sweet looking putters, very clean and simple ( in a very good way) design, but besides the adjustable weighting system is there anything really unique or special? I'm sure they have a great feel, but for lack of a better term, they a retreads of previous designs ( any chance Mr. Toulon actually contributed to the original designs?).

I like what putter companies like BPutters, Low Tide, Bellum Winmore,  Xenon and Tyson Lamb (and i know there are many others others, but these are the few recently that have really caught my eye)  have done in the boutique putter realm, by taking a design and making them their own., Bputters are simple and sexy Italian design, Low Tide are both heavy and sleek at the same time,  Bellum Winmore's sloping lines and compact designs (helllllllo mini El Gordo and Donny) are awesome, while Lumpy at Xenon seems to make anything you can think of, and Tyson Lamb's neck design and finishing touches are spectacular.

I know Toulon has a rich history with TM and I'm sure has made many contributions to putter design and feel, but overall, for ME specifically, this doesn't seem very unique and justify the boutique pricing.

They've launched their website and is very well done.

Still waiting on the Memphis mallet, but the clean and simple designs are growing on me.

One question about the weight plate, with it being so low, does it promote a slight backspin at first? Would the adjustable weight be better higher places like on Kayson putters,

Just curious.

Figures that i'd have to actually read/watch something for the answer. I understand their design for the grooves and notch between the diamond milling to lift the ball a bit to encourage faster forward roll, but i wonder if you took a standard length and added the heavier steel or Tungsten plate, if it would have a counter effect of the grooves. I guess this is a question for Toulon themselves. I like heavier putter heads, and it looks like some of their design characteristics are to add weight to the head as they lengthen the shaft, depending on the type of release you have. Hopefully I'll have a chance to try some of these sometime, of if they send some for Dave for his most wanted putter testing (hint hint), we might be able to answer this question on the green

I met Sean a couple years ago, at the BMW in Chicago, thanks to MGS. One of the most genuine guys in golf. Spoke to me for 20 minutes sitting next to Mark King. Trust me when I say these guys read everything that's written in the golf equipment forums.

Looks like quality products from an honest and dedicated company.

How do you get a market share in against Scotty, Bettinardi etc? Tour players? I'd just send some putters to MGS and another website, wait for the good reviews, social media mentions and see orders coming in.

I'll never get the chance to try these :(

Not sure anyone is gonna take share from Scotty, he's well cemented no matter what he does.  I've been messaging back and forth with them on Instagram to see if they'll come to the Haggin Oaks Golf Expo in Sacramento ( in the Spring, there's usually 1-200 golf related vendors. Almost all of the big OEMs are there, and sometimes some of the smaller companies show up.

Or like you said, they throw some putters in the ring for the Most Wanted competition(s)

Sean is going to have perhaps the easiest time ever breaking through as a putter manufacturer. He already has the manufacturing connections. He already has the tour connections.

He also knows more about tour contracts than the average bear, and he knows who's contracts allow him the opportunity to get in the bag.

He also benefits from serendipitous timing...SquareSpace (web hosting) wants to position itself within the golf industry, and Toulon was in the right place at the right time to effectively become their case study. Toulon Design is the centerpiece of an upcoming ad campaign, which includes a several page spread in Golf Digest.

I don't think Sean wants to be Scotty, but I think he'll do just fine.

Word on the street is he'll have at least 2 putters in tour player's bags by the end of this month. Probably settle in around 8-12 total.

Using SquareSpace on my own website. Love it :)

Sounds like we just have to sit down, grab some popcorn and wait for Toulon to sell more putters than they can make :) Just kidding. You make it sound like it's almost easy because he is who he is, and know the people he knows. Reality is probably more between that and "this is actually difficult"?

2 of 5 models available in LH. This is why I dislike almost all of these companies. The available LH putters are the same basic model as every other putter manufacturer in existence, so as a lefty what sets any of these companies apart from any other?

Lefties are always in their Right Mind
