Played this morning after work. $10 match play against a buddy. Gave him 10 strokes. Won 1 up.

Finally got back in the win column yesterday after 6 straight weeks of losing. We had 5 players all playing a $2 nassau plus dollar skins. Won $36. I'm only down $8 on the year.

I know I keep telling everyone about the Strokes betting app I've been using. (sorry)  It's a great app. It really is. Anyway, today I thought I'd post a few screen shots to give you guys an idea of what the app looks like. Unfortunately it's only available for Android at this time. Also the app... at this time doesn't sync like a GameBook app. I've talked to the guy that makes the app and he indicated he may upgrade it later for iPhone and add a sync'ng feature too so more than one group can see all the bets as the round progresses. There are lot's of built-in games. I've only used the app for Nassau's, Skins, and Junk so far but; based on my experience/success I'd imagine any of the other games the app includes it would work just as well. This app is not meant to be a social app in any way. It's a golf gambling app and does it well. And yes, this app beats using a scorecard to keep your bets. At the end of the round all bets are settled showing win/lose for each player and by how much. At anytime you can see where all bets stand and any player can press at anytime.

This was spring break, and the guys played the last 5 days. I did not join them on Wednesday. But the only constant was the wind. It was never below 20 mph. It was sunny and 80. Raining and 50 and cloudy and 40's. And did I mention wind.

 

Lots of wind.

 

At the end of the weekend, I actually won as much as I lost. I was down $34 at one point, but won enough to make up for it.

 

So even this weekend M-T-D +$49 and Y-T-D is +$323.

Lost $10 on the blind draw (was + on my quota partner was - Wouldn't have mattered unless he pulled 7, I was + 9 and +16 won). Won $51 on the emergency 9. Net +$41. To think I started our Good Friday tradition 15 years ago with 12 guys and we had 52 today (62 entered but 10 backed out because of rain).

 

One of the groups saw $1800 change hands between the 2 losers and 2 winners in their 2 man low ball... And those guys are still there playing cards when I left... They crazy

Lost $15 today in a two on two better Ball match play. Down $15 on the year now. Horseshoe lip outs on birdie putts on 17 and 18. I was upset. Rematch tomorrow morning.

Great day for ole Plaid today. Lowest round I've had in several years. 72. (two over at my course) Could have easily shot even or maybe under. But I got in my way on the back 9. Anyway. I'm pleased and inspired. Won $100 today from a combination of skins, and Nassau's. I'm now solidly in the black and up on the year +$92.

Played 27 today. Won $10 on the first 18 in our rematch from yesterday. Played another 9 after. Lost $20 thanks to my buddy making a 40 footer for birdie on #9.

 

Back to -$10 for the year.

Got cleaned out yesterday. I am so inconsistent right now. Lost $20 yesterday shooting an 85. Last week shot 72. WTH? On the bright side I'm still up $72 on the year.

Shot a cool 94 yesterday and lost $25.

Haven't been tracking it all season so far, but I'm about even until yesterday.

 

Won $60 in our regular scotch game, then won $21 in skins.  Went back out for another 9 as a drunken scramble (6 guys 3-on-3 scramble) and won another $20.

A new month and new clubs.

 

I got the clubs on Wednesday and played Thursday and made $6. Didn't play Friday.

 

Saturday was an incredible day. We played Wolf and it does not really matter how well you play. Often it is the guy who plays the worst that makes all the money. We had 3 guys, including me, who were playing very well, and the two that were not. and the two that were not won the money. I was -1 at the turn in score but down $16. I had all pars and a birdie, and my birdie was covered up and other guys beat my pars. I was 2 under after 16 and then double bogied the last 2 holes, and lost $15. We were playing 9 more holes and I was up 3 holes, but my wife called broken down on the interstate (alternator) so I had to leave and forfeit my winnings.

 

Then on Sunday, I didn't play as well but still lost $9. Actually, I double bogied 3 of the first 8 holes, and still finished 1 stroke out of the money. We played 9 more holes for $20 because I wanted to get my money back but we both shot 37 and won the same number of holes so it was a push.

 

I was down $23 for the week and month and plus $305 for the year.

 

This is the first weekend I was down for the whole weekend.

Right now it appears RoverRick and me are up the most so far this year. I'm not sure if I can catch Rover. He's a money machine.

I don't normally bet, but on #18 yesterday, my buddy and i both had similar 50 foot pitch shots, so he challenged me for $1. I hit PW pretty good, but it turned out to be 10 feet short. He hit hydrid to about 9 feet past. Chipping with his hybrid is his new schtick. So i lost the bet, but didn't care because i made the putt for par on the Number 3 HC hole.

I forgot to post from last week. I lost $2.... on 18!! One guy hit a snake and birdied on me. I'm still up $70 on the year so far.

Another winning weekend. In spite of one guy having 6 birdies! I won $25 in the skin game, $12 in 2 Nassaus, lost $18 in 3 nassaus. Netting $19 on the day. My total for the year now stands at +$89.

I skipped last weekend because I did not play golf. Yep, for the first time in several years I did not play golf or touch a club for 12 days. Even when I was traveling to Europe I had a putter that fit in my suitcase. But I had an injured foot and spent the weekend helping the wife.

 

That meant that I got to play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday (would have been more on Sunday but the rains came.) On Saturday I paid $20 and won $20, then paid $10 and made $15, then lost $11 and on Sunday I won $20. So when the big board tally was net +$14.

 

Spreadsheet says net -$9 for the month but +$319 for the year. 

 

A not on the $11 loss on Saturday. We were playing wolf, and I shot a bogey-free 35 on those 9 holes. During a four hole stretch I shot par-birdie-par-par and I lost $11. I got beaten by 3 different guys who happened to be on the other team on that hole. One guy shot double-eagle-bogey-double and other guys birdied when I parred. That is what can happen with wolf bets.  I just had to laugh.

After a weekend outing in Austin, Tx. - Played Wolfdancer at Hyatt Lost Pines Resort, and both Fazio courses at Barton Creek - 3 days winnings $51. Up $140 on the year so far.

Shot 78 and 76 on Friday and Saturday and broke even. I spent an hour and a half on the range Saturday after the round. And proceeded to shoot a 90 on Sunday morning. I saved a 90 with clutch putting. Only had 24 putts. But then played 9 more for the $20 I lost shooting the 90 and shot a 38 and made it back. Haha. Got to love golf. (Past performance is not indicative of future results.)

 

Even for the weekend. Still up $319 for the year.

 

My partners were not hesitant to send me to the other team after the 90 and were not happy that I won the last 9. It was not like I intended to take 3 strokes to get out of the fairway bunker or hit the tree to go OB 3 times.

Hey... I'm only $170 back of Rover now. I need a big weekend or three to catch up. My Austin trip would have paid out better for me if I hadn't eaten a full bowl of chili with my approach to 18 on Sunday. Lost three presses that I should have easily won. Grrrrrr. LOL
