This winter, Ecco Golf launched the next variation of in their hybrid golf shoe line in the Speed Hybrid.  The Speed Hybrid is designed in the spirit of a classic throwback tennis shoe.

The Speed Hybrid is packed with everything you've come to expect from Ecco to date.  Most importantly, out of the box comfort and luxury.  The Speed Hybrid utilizes Ecco's direct-injected polyurethane midsole.  This manufacturing process used in all Ecco models, bonds the leather upper and outsole.  The result is a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching.  In golf, one of the chief benefits of this process is that maintains a water tight seal.

Like other Ecco hybrid shoes, the Speed Hybrid was designed with the spikeless, “molded traction bars” made from durable thermoplastic polyurethane.  Ecco describes the fit of the Speed Hybrids as “Freedom Fit.”  This incorporates a snug heel and roomier forefoot with promotes natural freedom of movement by the toes.  When testing the shoes, and trying them on for the maiden voyage, I noticed the shoes fit a little more snug in the forefoot area than other hybrid models.  However, they remain wider than standard width shoes.  The leather upper is treated with Ecco's proprietary, Hydromax treatment that provides long lasting water repellency.

Ecco continues to remain as one of the best when it comes to the casual hybrid golf shoe.  Out of the box comfort, quality leather, and lasting durability all contribute to their quality dominance in this category.  I am looking forward to getting these on the course this spring.  MSRP: $180

3 Key Design Features I like:

-Immediate out of the box comfort

-Quality leather

-Llightweight yet stable for a hybrid golf shoe

I think Ecco builds some nice shoes. Including non-golf shoes. I was actually looking at a pair of their casual/office shoes today at a local store. As for golf I kind of like the BIOM style. Actually I think they have another model that is similar but without those silver patches on them. As for the those new ones above; I'd lose the the glued on jewel looking things. Too chic.
